I thought it takes 6-8 weeks to receive a renewal back in the mail. You could probably book it now but keep an eye out and be prepared to start calling if it gets close without having it in your hands.
Check online and see how long it takes to get a passport back. We booked out honeymoon before we got our passports and it wasn't a problem. Passports came in plenty of time :)
It says its 4-6 weeks online, and the lady at the post office said 4 weeks, but I know something could probably go wrong.
I think I'm gonna book it anyways. hehe
I applied for mine 12-18, got it 1-18, when I thought I was taking a trip in March. They said rush would take 2-4 weeks, normal is 6-8.
When I renewed mine, it said 2-4 weeks rush. I had forgotten it expired so I had to rush it. I got it in 2.5. If it said 4-6 on the website and you have 7 weeks, you are probably OK. It all depends on how many applications they have. This is a busy time of year but the website seems to be accurate, from what I've heard.

Hi ladies,
So I haven't been out of the country since 1995! I know!
I just submitted my application for a passport yesterday, and I am hoping to just book my vacation for the last week in July now. The lady at the post office thought that we'd be fine and would have our passport in by then, but I wanted to see what other people's experiences were.
1. How long did it take you to get your passport
2. Do you think it's a bad idea if I go ahead and book my vacation now for the end of July, without having my passport yet?
