My wedding will be in July and I am in love with light, subtle, pastel shades. For example, here’s my ideal color combo:
However, my bridesmaids (and myself) have fallen in love with a dark color bridesmaid dress:
It’s the Bill Levkoff 521 in plum.
Any ideas on keeping the wedding light and subtle with my bridesmaid in darker dresses? By the way, the dresses look almost black in some lights.

As a bridesmaid I would prefer the darker dress because pastel shades make me look really washed out.. especially in photos. I don’t think there is any reason why you can’t have a dark purple dress and then use lighter shades of purples and pinks for things like flowers, linens, and decorations.

I think if you choose purple as a colour in general then there is nothing wrong with having different shades. If the dress is darker then you can lighten up the rest of the decor with light coloured bouquets for them, and light purple decor. I think it would look really pretty! 🙂

Use your original color palette for flowers and linens. The plum color will just be the “pop” and wow factor color. I think it will still look light and airy and beautiful!

I think if you keep everything else light and just layer your shades of purple and ivory, it won’t be an issue. I agree with shay, I think it will just add drama.
As a pale irish girl, I totally feel Moose’s comment on looking washed out in pale colors, although if you’re having it in midsummer, the girls will probably have already gotten a little sun from being outside more during the season, so that might not be an issue.
Only other thing to think about is if you’re having your wedding outside in mid-summer those BMs might bake in the dark color… Or would you have it in the late afternoon?
