I've read quite a few places to pay for my wedding dress by either debit or credit card so I'll have a paper trail, but what I haven't seen is how to pay. Do I pay everything at once, or half and half, or in installments?

We're trying to figure out cash vs credit budgets, and oddly this factors right in. I haven't got my dress yet (obviously haha), neither have I started trying them on. I was just wondering because I'm going to a bridal show in Jan and don't want to settle for something I don't love because I don't have the cash then and they require all of it. Not only that, but my debit limit is 1000$ and my visa is only 500$.

My dress shop asked for a 60% deposit, and I could spread it over multiple credit cards.

I think it all depends on where you buy it at. The bridal shop i went to was very flexible...to order the dress in was $50 and they only required $100 down payment so altogether $150 for a $1600 dress. After the dress comes in (2 more months!) you are still allowed to make installments but im just going to pay the whole thing off right away. Sorry i dont know anything about buying at bridal shows, but am in the same perdicament as far debit and credit limit goes, so we're giving my mom the cash and shes putting it on her credit card (she offered). Maybe if you know someone with a higher credit limit you could do the same? im not sure...

I heard the standard is to put 60% down to order, and then the rest before alterations are done. I think that covers their costs just incase you dont pay the rest.

When I got my dress, we had to put 50% down and the rest was paid when it came in.  I think it varies where you get the dress and what their policies are.

Thanks ladies! That's not sooo bad, I was just hoping it wasn't everything in full. I'm not sure I would have trusted that at all.
