Ok, I’m totally not saying just because a wedding is expensive it means the couple won’t last. Some people can afford to splash out on a high priced wedding without breaking themselves and that’s fine. But I read this today and it was a bit sobering because I do see this a lot in society nowadays, and it is because of the stars and high profile rich people that do make the rest of us go crazy at times. This is a good thing to read to bring us all back to earth when we start getting a bit TOO caught up in the details that don’t ultimately matter 🙂

when the writer mentioned the 50s i thought of my grandma who always talks about how over the top weddings are compared to her day, and i am wondering if the fact that people are tending to get married later in life when they are living on their own with jobs etc?
idk, maybe my grandma had to take what her father could give her since she was 21, living at home and working as a part time secretary. i am 28, with savings and a career, and i am paying for my wedding so i can have “whatever i want”?
