    Hey everyone,

Just wondering what birth control you're taking, for the people with PCOS?

    Thanks in advance :)

I'm using a Mirena coil and it's helped a lot with the really bad periods. I'm quite lucky that when I was off hormonal birth control (copper coil) for a year that my cycle was quite regular so that was really reassuring.

I am on the Nuvaring (oral birth control doesn't hold my lining properly and causes mid-cycle spotting) which means I am also on Spirolactone as Nuvaring doesn't have an adrogen blocker like many PCOS oral BCP have.

Yasmin BCP - recommended to me by my gyno. It's not Pharmac-approved in NZ (government subsidised) in NZ but the generic they had me on (Estelle, which I've now heard has changed names) made me into a moody raving harpy so the $70 every three months seems worth it.

I'm TTC now but was using the Nuvaring. I really liked it.

I have PCOS and took all kinds - Ortho tricyclen, Loestrin 24, Femcon, Yasmin, Yaz, and others I can't remember the name of.  For me, Yaz was the best.  I react really weirdly (hello psycho!  LOL) to artificial hormones and that one seemed to be the easiest on me.  But, when my doctor put me on BCP after being diagnosed w/ PCOS, he gave me the choice, saying there wasn't really one I should be on b/c of the PCOS.  If that makes sense.

I took Yasmin for years and then I stopped having my period all together and was REALLY bloated. So I tried about 3 different kinds, and went off the pill for awhile. I ended up on a really high estrogen pill (but I forget the name) that was working well, but I just got the Mirena.
