I was diagnosed with PCOS at 16 and was on BCP from then until I was getting ready to TTC at almost 24.

1. How long were you TTC before your BFP?(how many  cycles) 1 trying, 4th month off of BCP

2 Any medication? What kind? Metformin & BCP (went off BCP before TTC, obviously, off metformin after getting pregnant)

3. Any surgeries required? No

4. Charting and temping too? I did temp & chart-used FF to track. The first 2 months were all over the place, 3rd and on were pretty normal.

5. Were you referred to a RE? No

I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 23 ( I am now 28) We TTC when I turned 24 and I got pregnant 6 months later. I was taking Metformin prior to pregnancy and did get referred to an Endocrinologist. She put me on a diet regimin that helped me lose some weight and help with making my period “normal”. That is what pretty much helped getting pregnant along with the metformin. Good luck and you will see that everything will turn out great!

I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was about 29 or so.  I always had an irregular cycle but didn’t believe that it was PCOS.  I was referred to a fertility specialist and he told me that I may never get pregnant and if i did I would most likely miscarry.  Fast forward 2 years later, we decided to start ttc and I was seeing an acupuncturist who specialized in fertility.  He gave me acupuncture weekly and put me on Chinese herbs and we conceived on the first cycle.  I now have a perfect 13 month old.  I HIGHLY recommend acupuncture and herbs as it worked miracles for us.

1. How long were you TTC before your BFP?(how many cycles)

8 months NTNP

2 Any medication? What kind?
Snythroid (thyroid issues) Metformin (PCOS)

3. Any surgeries required?

Nope

4. Charting and temping too?

Nope

5. Were you referred to a RE?

Nope

We were NTNP – I hadn’t ovulated in 8 months despite being on metformin and synthroid. I had an acupuncture session (my 1st) and got a BFP a week later.

I reccommend acupuncture in conjunction with metformin.

After my BFP I took metformin throughout the first tri to reduce the likelihood of m/c

@MrsRedPumps:  great job posting this. i have just been diagnosed with pcos myself and my dr currently has me on pregnitude and it has been helping with at least getting me to ovulate regularly. AF was suppose to show up yesterday and she has not so i am going to give it until the 9th before i test and will update this thread.

i know there are several more ladies on these boards who have successfully battled pcos so i don’t know why more aren’t posting as this would be extremly helpful to all of us who want to have successes just like they did.

Hello fellow PCOS-ers!!

I’m 26, I was diagnosed May of 2012.. I started Metformin (1500mg) and a diet to lose weight, I lost 50lbs which in addition to the Metformin helped regulate my period. DH and I were NTNP as we were told it would be difficult to have children… And Feb of of this year we got a BFP!!

I’m currently 34wks and have had a healthy pregnancy! I stopped taking Metformin around 7-8wks at my first ultrasound.

I remember being in this deep dark hole when I got my results from the doctor… And Metformin was not fun the first couple weeks, but I knew I wanted to be a Mom more then anything, so it was so worth the intestional issues, which do go away!!

Don’t think of this as a bad thing, just a temporary obstacle… I was telling a friend at work, by being told “You may have difficulties having children”.. It made everything ‘bad’ about being pregnant amazing! The morning sickness was worth it, I don’t complain about being tired/sick/not sleeping/waddling/leg cramps to people because I am so lucky/blessed, the pain of labor will be worth it, and I’m not taking this time/opportunity for granted!

I wish you all the best of luck!! And highly recommend Metformin.. Also, I would check out some peer reviewed studies (Cochrane review is amazing) on acupuncture before spending the money on the sessions and possibly putting yourself at risk. From what I’ve read in medical journals there’s no correlation to it helping any type of medical issue, especially fertility. (Sorry to be a downer in that aspect)
