SparkleBaby12:  it sounds like it, but it’s such a hard thing to diagnose someone. I have PCOS and all my bloodwork was “normal”. I had totally normal cycles and then bam – 60 day cycles and no ovulation. I would get a progesterone test between CD21 and 24 and see what your numbers show. From there an ultrasound would be a good idea to see if you have “pearls” or anything irregular in your uterus. Good luck! I hope you get some answers soon.

PCOS is a cluster of symptoms – hence the “syndrome” part of the diagnosis. You can have some symptoms and not others, and still be considered to have PCOS. I have never had the string of pearls on an ultrasound, but I have wacky hormone levels, irregular cycles, embarassing facial hair, insulin resistance, and difficulty losing weight. I was diagnosed at a young age despite ultrasounds looking normal.

I’m currently waiting to see an OBGYN, but ive had my internal scan and the radiologist said that it was indicative of PCOS.  I had blood work done also and now i can’t actually remember what it was that was a little bit low, that linked to PCOS. I have a LOT of facial growth that I’m seriously just too embarrassed to leave the house. Can’t afford laser treatment -_-<br />If the gyno doesn’t reccomend it just yet then I wouldn’t worry.  From my knowledge, there isn’t a whole lot you can do in terms of treatment. Just certain things to do with lifestyle.

SparkleBaby12:  pcos is a cluster… I ‘have it’, but ultimately, there’s nothing ‘medical’ to do about it, so I have taken matters into my own hands to just manage the symptoms.  Ie I can’t handle BC- get life threatening migraines, but have been using an IUD for last few years and that’s alleviated all the head problems.  My sister also has it, and BC just makes her flat out crazy.  We both can’t tolerate the hormones, but show it in different ways.  My skin is afwul when things aren’t managed too- been through every round of RX drugs and topicals but they never work.  I also got ovarian cysts that ruptured a few years back, and have had a lot of trouble losing weight depsite my lifestyle.  All these symptoms popped up at different times, so it took me a few years to put the pieces together.  Long story short, I have to live a very clean and natural lifestyle.  SOY is the worst thing, and dairy is just behind it.  Eliminating those things from my diet (I cheat with some small amounts of dairy sometimes) has helped immensely with my skin.  I also use apple cider vinegar on my skin- toner, in foods- its great for your internal systems as well.  Haven’t had the cysts in a few years so I am thinking that’s one more step in the right direction.  Not ttc yet but I have been working to get healthy the natural way so that when the time is right, I have as many obstacles out of the way as possible.  You can definitely get overwhelemed with the info- and it’s so vague that it can be stressful figuring out what might or might not apply to you.  I definitely agree with PP- its more about lifestyle changes than any quick pill fix.  Look at whole30.com for diet ideas- clean eating is a huge help with this IMO.

i don’t  have experience with PCOS but i do have experiece with chin hairs.  i get them and i pluck them.  there are like 5 or 6 that pop up at a time.  i check once every 2 weeks (unless i feel them first) to make sure.  my mom has them, my girlfriends have them.  i didn’t think having those stray chin hairs was unusual.

SparkleBaby12:  not necessarily.  I do know other women whose symptoms are more severe or who have more facial hair.  I know mine is more than the average woman gets,  and my cycles can be pretty frustrating,  but there are also plenty who are worse off than me.
