Well, the problem with PCOS is that each woman reacts to it differently. Some have no difficulty getting pregnant, some struggle. Some find the months off the pill to help their fertility, some find that they take many months to have their cycles regulate. Unfortunately there's no real clear cut answer! :(
@jaguar: Yeah I figured as much! I know you're right.
Im eating super healthy and exercising so I'm really hoping that has a positive effect...
@Evie19: That should definitely help! Part of my biggest battle during this whole time TTC has been weight loss - and I am still struggling!
@jaguar: Yeah it really is difficult. Im doing it without metformin because I had bad side effects with it.
I lost weight for the wedding which helped! Now I just need to keep it up. :) I totally pigged out on the honeymoon...but I don't regret it!
My RE actually put me on BCP to induce a period b/c a lot of the time women ovulate right after coming off the pill. But, as @jaguar: said everyone reacts differently to it.
It is definitely hard to tell how you are going to react. I came off the pill a while before we started TTC, I think I ovulated a few months after, but then not again for many months. Now I am on metformin as well, and ovulating but no BFP yet (we are on cycle 6 of trying).
Eating healthy and exercising will definitely help! Good luck to you!
I agree that it's different for everyone. I was on birth control a few years ago and had regular cycles after coming off of it, but when I went on again and stopped again, I failed to regulate and have been stuck in no-O limbo for the last 1.5 years (almost 2 now). It probably has something to do with my weight -- I'm 20-30 lbs heavier now -- and probably also the progression of my insulin resistance.
@Evie19: The first time I came off birth control I had irregular periods for about four months then they stopped for about six or seven months... I went back on b/c for a few weeks to clear my skin up for my wedding and since then I've had a period a month. I'm doing cycle monitoring right now so will find out soon whether I'm ovulating but hormone levels/ultrasounds are looking good so far. I couldn't say whether it was the pill or the acupuncture that's helped (I have thin type PCOS so weight loss wouldn't help me) but the pill certainly seemed to kick-start something into action...
As everyone else has pointed out, it's different for everybody.
I just found out I was pregnant last night through the "HAPPY SURPRISE ROUTE" and I just came off BC at the beginning of February. I too have PCOS (although with my condition, I had my period twice a month but with no ovulation and this has been happening since I was about 17). Needless to say I fall into the category of regulating right after BC so although everyone is different, be prepared! We had no idea that the first couple of months after BC are sometimes the best times for those with PCOS to get pregnant. Although we were not TTC, we are happy that we are fortunate enough to have a baby! GL!

Hi all! So I'm newly married and DH and I continue the discussion about TTC.
We have decided to NTNT starting in October. That way we take some of the pressure off by starting early and also by not actively TTC-ing right away.
Now- I've read somewhere (maybe here) that PCOS women get pregnant easier if they are very recently coming off of birth control. Maybe because the cycles have been regulated?
I was considering ending birth control now though. We were going to practice the pull out method. (We aren't scared to do so because if I get pregnant it would be a happy surprise).
Any opinions on this? Should I get off my b.c. now? Or wait until we want to conceive?
Thanks bees...
