@asbee:  I don’t heave a pear for my e-ring but I do have a pear RHR that DH got me for christmas. Its in a halo setting. I love it! Something about pears in halos…..I am really drawn to them so halo gets my vote!

@asbee:  my engagement ring is a pear….and i love it to death…to awnser your questions

1.) I took alot of time in choosing my diamond, we worked really closely asking questions and varifiying it was eye clean and as minimal bow tie as possible….a well cut pears bow tie will show less than a poorly cut pear so we chose a well cut pear above all else….you can always talk to your jewler about the bow tie and most of them will work with you to find a really well cut stone with minimal bow-tie….i believe it is also more prominent the larger stone you get….

2.) as far as halos i didnt want to distract from my center stone….she holds her own with out it….also remember that different cuts of stone may appear bigger compared to other cuts of that same weight….for instance mine is a .23 carat pear and if you just glance at it….it appears MUCH larger….i do reccommend the v-tip prong for the point because it can be very fragile….

i wear a 7.75-8 in rings and the coverage with my little .23 is pretty impressive, so keep that in mind when selecting a halo and actually try the size of pear on that you are wanting….i thought i wanted a .5 carat and then i tried it on and yowzas did it look big on my hand….so i really recommend visiually seeing the size type on your hand in a pear cut not basing it off what a round or so looks like….

so here is my .23 baby on a size 8 2mm diamond and sapphire band…..

i wouldnt change a thing…..i do have short fingers….but mand does my little baby sparkle….

I don’t have a pear but from what I’ve read there are absolutely some pears without a bowtie, the trick is having a good vendor to find it for you. Since you’re familiar with pricescope, you probably know the recommended vendors like good old gold, brian gavin, etc. I would definitely go with one of them over a place like blue nile because with BN you cannot see the diamond itself and fancy cuts can vary so much. You may be able to find a good local jeweler as well.

@asbee:  I have a pear! But with no Halo. No bowtie issues for me!

No bowtie concerns for me, but we looked at lots of pears. We got a smaller pear for better quality and sparkle.

.79 center stone

@BlondeMissMolly:  Sure, it’s an E color, VVS2, 2.4 carat center, with G color VS1 baguettes (about .2 each)
