As a girl with larger hips and a small waist I'm interested too see what shape of dresses other brides have chosen to flatter thier shape as I need some inspiration! I'm finding it quite pointless looking at model pictures as they have very few curves!
I chose a natural-waist ballgown! My original dress was mermaid, but I felt like it accentuated my tummy too much and I was really self-conscious about it.
(I'm a size 12, with wide hips and a booty.)

i chose what i think is a trumpet gown. i think i fit the category of hourglass because my waist is definitely smaller than my hip!
I have an hourglass shape and I chose a ballgown with a natural waist. Here are some pictures of me at my fitting. I still have one more fitting to go. It does have a train, but I am showing it bustled.

I have an hourglass shape on a petite frame (34-25-36.5). My original dress which I wore for the ceremony was a mermaid, but I didn't feel comfortable with how I looked in it. I later changed to an a-line with a crinoline added for fullness. Felt a lot better in this dress.
I really need to get some better pictures of my dress, these were taken at the end of a long stressful day...
I'm 100% pear, no doubt about it. These hips are some hips. I've gone for a natural waist, ballerina length 50s style frock!

And I really wouldn't have picked it based on the website's image I think its a dress that needs a shapely woman, it was seeing it in store and then on me that made me fall for it!

There is a little over 10 inches in difference between my hips and my waist, so I'm pretty sure that qualifies me for pear-shaped :) I wore an A-line gown with a sash. Loved it!

I would consider myself more pear shape and here's the dress I picked
It's got a higher waist so it really hides my hips
(mind you this is in store before alterations and it makes me look alot bigger on top b/c its big lol)
I am definately a pear shape. This is me in the sample dress. Mine hasn't come in yet.
I am definitely a bottom-heavy hourglass..:) Haha, a very CURVY hourglass.
Anyway, here's my top pic - Jenna by Maggie Sottero:
Here's the first dress I chose (and bought!) though, it's very complimentary for my body type but I just didn't think it was special enough:

I'm very much a pear shape, (34-26-38) but I think my dress gave me a little more of an hourglass shape due to the 'poof' and that the skirt started right above my hips.

My dress was a little too big, so it wasn't quite as tight around the chest as I would have liked, but it worked :)
@meliss: Your dress is so beautiful! I love how your pictures look; beach photos are so pretty.
@SnowPeony: Thank you! I loved your snow photos too. Something we never get here :)
I'm definitely a pear shape - this is when we were introduced at our reception! My dress was more of a dropped waist type :)

Here's when I tried her on:

@meliss: Haha yeah, snow is the only thing I would miss in California. My dad lives in Santa Barbara and we're taking a road trip this summer to go see him. I absolutely love the weather there! It's always beautiful. It rained today and it'll snow again tomorrow :( I miss spring!
@Phiphi: Who is the designer??? Love your dress!!!
I am pear shaped. My dress is a tea length version of Casablanca 1900.
I'm SEVERLY pear shaped (ha)!! My hips and thighs are wider than anything on my body. And according to fashion, I'm not "supposed" to wear a mermaid or fitted gown. But FI loves the ba-donka donk and is going to LOVE my gown.
I am loving the ballerina length dresses on you pretty gals!
SO many gorgeous dresses :)
@zippylef Your hair and make up are amazing! you look so glamorous in those photos!
@meliss: is right - @alaiyo:it is a Pnina! I'm not sure of the style to be honest, I believe it is from the 2007 collection but I fell in love with it. I'm actually planning to sell mine if you are interested let me know!
ohh... im an hourglass pearish shape haha..... ive
posted it a million times already but i love it!
Definitely an hourglass!
This is me in the sample which was a few sizes too small. Excuses the crazy cleavage and the crapper picture quality!

The photo of me is in a sample dress 6 sizes to big! But you get the idea! :D
I'm a pear for sure! I only have a picture of the back, sadly. I didn't know pear shapes weren't "supposed" to wear mermaids! lol I though the mermaids looked best on me

I'm an hourglass. I wore a mermaid sillhoutte to accentuate my shape.
Excuse my crying...lol.

I'm definitly wider on the hips. Here's my dress (this is the store model, mine looks a bit better
)

I'd say i'm an hourglass and my dress is fishtail shape, this is me when I first tried her on.
I'm a petite hourglass. I've posted her all over the place, but here she is again! This dress was actually just featured in Brides magazine this past month for brides that have a pear shape.
