My dream ring has always been a pearl engagement ring. A while back when I started looking into e-rings I came across exquisite pearl and mabe rings. I am aware that pearls are very soft and most professionals’ advice against using a pear in an e-ring as the pearl will not withstand every day wear. I was devastated as I had my heart set on a pearl. Confusion crept in when I googled antique pearl and made rings and saw that the pearls and mabes looked very much intact.
My second choice after a pearl ring was a stoneless e-ring, my SO was not very keen on the idea and suggested a coloured stone, and so started my search for the perfect coloured stone. I fell around from Rubies to Garnets, Morganite, Padpradasha Sapphires to Rose Tourmaline to Watermelon Spinel (you would be able to see that in some of my posts). None of these gorgeous stones awaken the same amount of awe in me as a pearl. I am of the opinion that if I can’t have a pearl I will be happy with a stoneless ring.
Pearls are so unique, no two the same, even cultured pearls.
I did join a pearl forum ages ago, the advice I got was get a pearl ring and when the pearl wears just replace it. That could work, but I am very sentimental and might not do that, holding on to the original pearl for ever.
I have a made pearl that I inherited form my mom, and would love to use that in my engagement ring!
To all the wonderful Beez out there, could you please help me with pictures of your pearl/mabe rings (engagement or other) that you have had for a while and worn regularly and/or antique pearl/mabe rings. I need some real-life proof of this before I make my final decision. Any advice will be very much appreciated.
Thank you in advance!
