Since we are all so quick to complain about bad experiences (myself included), I thought I would tell everyone about a GREAT experience I had. I was trying to find the best deal for my bridesmaids' gowns, so I looked EVERYWHERE! I mean, every online shop, site, brick and mortar store. I definitely did my research. Pearl's Place (www.pearlsplace.com) came out to be the cheapest (2/3 of the price in the store) including shipping ($12 for all 5 dresses). So I placed my order March 20th, they told me 12-14 weeks, standard time for dresses, I would think. I ordered Alfred Angelo dresses and 12 weeks would put us around the third week of June. I will admit, I was a little nervous that they might be knock-offs, we've all heard horror stories. Anyway, I called them yesterday to just check on the order and make sure everything was still moving along. They informed me that the dresses had shipped and were actually out for delivery.. 3 weeks early! Talk about timing! Anyway, I opened them up, they came straight from Alfred Angelo shipped to Pearl's Place and then to me. They are all sealed in their plastic garment bags and are beautiful! So needless to say, if anyone has any doubts about ordering from Pearl's Place, you have nothing to worry about! The whole process was very simple, and I'm thrilled! So yey!

I completely agree about Pearl's Place.  I don't have experience with their online service, though, because I actually live in New Orleans.  In looking for a place to try on/buy a dress I did a fair amount of research.  Reviews for Pearl's Place were definitely mixed and women seemed to feel very strongly one way or the other (love 'em or hate 'em).  But I took a chance and went anyway and I have to say that I have been extremely pleased with my experience with them!  The prices are fantastic and the selection is great and I have found their customer service to be very good as well.  I ordered my dress from them about a month ago and got a great deal on one that I absolutely loved.

To be balanced, I do think that (and I'm sure this is the same with any place) it can be the luck of the draw with who you end up with as a consultant/on the other end of the phone.  I must have been having a good karma day because I was paired with Sue, who has been helpful, knowledgeable, patient and a whole lot of fun.  But given other reviews and my own observation, there are other consultants there who just don't seem to be quite as attentive or happy to be helping their customers.

It also can be a total madhouse, especially on Saturdays, expect a wait if you go or try to get in touch with them on/near the weekend, and if you go there on Saturday be ready to be bumping into a hundred other women.  And if you are looking for the whole fancy shmancy experience - and I understand why many women want that! - you won't really get it there.  No champagne or satin couches or giant dressing rooms, just the basics.

Personally, I would give them the highest recommendation to anyone who is more on the low-key side and wants a bargain without sacrificing selection.  And if you can get Sue, I'm sure your experience will be as positive as mine!

    A little off topic...

A friend of mine purchased her wedding dress from Pearl's Place and loved it, so she recommended them to me.  I called them and they were super nice; they gave me the price of my gown over the phone and it was $200 less than what I had seen in the bridal shops.

I was a little wary of having an internet only purchasing experience, so I went to my local bridal shop and got them to match the price.  So, remember, that you don't have to pay "sticker price" for a wedding dress, there are many options out there!

I went to Pearl's Place on 01-17-09. I waited 2 hours to try on bridal gowns and bridesmaid dresses. I knew by reading the reviews that there was going to be a long wait. But I thought it would be worth the wait because when I called them they told me they carried EVERY Maggie Sottero style (that's the brand I preffered). When it came time to try on the bridal gowns I handed my consultant (who had a very rude personality and seemed like she was in the biggest hurry) my paper which had the style numbers of Maggie Sottero & Sottero & Midgley that I liked. It was a total of about 20 dresses. She came back with ONLY 2 of the dresses. And said that's all they had. I was very upset that they only had 2 of the dresses because I don't exactly live close to New Orleans and made a special trip to this place because I thought it was so amazing that they carried all the styles. I knew it was too good to be true because every other bridal store I have called only has 2 or 3 of the styles I like to try on. That's not disappointing. It's disappointing when they LIE to you over the phone, get you all excited, make you and your bridesmaids wait two hours, and then deliver the poorest customer service of ANY bridal store I have been to. Don't get me wrong... they had a lot of dresses there. The consultant may have even been lying to me because she didn't want spend the time looking. I can understand it may be time consuming. But maybe she should re-think her current career. And brides are picky. We all want the PERFECT dress and most of us won't settle for less. Pearl's Place was a total waste of my time. But the good thing was that Bustle's & bows was w/in walking distance from there and they GREAT service & BEAUTIFUL dresses. They may not have as many as Pearls Place but they may surprise you with the selection. It's very organized too :). Some Advice: If you are like me and are set on at least trying the place out... go as early as possible... like get there a few minutes before it opens on Saturday or go during the week. Expect to dig... everything is messy, overstocked, and unorganized, and don't beleive anything they tell you over the phone. And even if you find your dream dress there I would be scared to order from them. While I was waiting this one lady said she had been waiting hours for alterations. And I've also read horror stories about dresses being ordered in the wrong size, color, and even forgetting to order at all! And they have a sign up that says all orders are FINAL sale.

I would 150% recommend Pearl's Place!!!  I fell in love with a Nicole Miller gown that was, of course, entirely out of my budget.  I looked all over the internet trying to find a place that carried her gowns at discounted prices, but no luck.  Pearl's Place was the only website I could find that carried NM, and the dress was $500 less than the retail price.  Too good to be true?  Perhaps.  I was super nervous to order off the internet, and read as many reviews as I could find about the store/site.  Impatience got the best of me and I ended up ordering the gown, half expecting to receive a knock off in the mail.  My dress arrived 4 WEEKS after I ordered, and it was PERFECTION.  It was a legit Nicole Miller with all the tags and the garment bag...nothing knock off about that lovely, unless you're referring to the socks that'll go flying when I finally get to wear her!  I had all my BMs order their dresses from Pearl's Place, too, and they all received the right dresses in less than 8 weeks...and at $50 less than the store price.

Also, I had called / emailed Pearl's Place a few times before I ordered. I asked about the return policy, insured shipping, etc....just to prepare for the worst. They were always helpful and responded very quickly.  I'd order from them again in a heartbeat.

I've loved Pearl's Place!  The first time I went (a Saturday), it was a madhouse.  I stuck it out, because Pearl's was one of 2 stores in the whole state that carried Paloma Blanca, and I loved almost every single one of their designs.  After I waited, I had a great consultant all to myself. She brought me about 20 gowns before I found 'the one.' I ordered it on the spot, and got a call saying my dress was in 3 months later. They asked me to come in within the next week so that they could order a new dress if there was something wrong. I was out of town, and wouldn't be able to go in for 2 weeks; they were fine with that.

The second time I went in, it was a weekday.  The store was much less crowded.  I had 3 consultants all to myself, and 2 more poked their heads in and out!  I was in and out within 30 minutes.  I'm going back in within a few weeks for my next fitting, and I'm anticipating a great experience. Every time that I have called with a question, my consultant has called me back within an hour or two.

FutureMrsK, Maybe you had a bad experience because you went on a Saturday.  There was a difference in the speed and personality of my consultant on a weekday versus a Saturday.

Just got my dresses from Pearl's Place and wanted to leave a review since I was worried about buying off the internet. I would 100% recommend them.  I bought six Watters bridesmaids dresses for more than $100 off the store prices (each!).  I made sure Pearl's Place was an authorized retailer by going to Watters website.  Anyhow, the dresses came on time and look great!  If you are the kind of person that needs a bunch of phone calls confirming things, etc, then this might not be the place for you.  But they were totally fine, I called them a couple times to make sure my order was on track, and they were very nice.  Also, I needed to change a size about two weeks after I placed my order and they went out of their way to call the designer and make sure it could be done.

We ordered my mom's dress from PP for my sister's wedding, and again for my wedding.  Great, fast, cheap service both times.  She's having a custom bolero made, and needed extra fabric, and Pearl's Place got it from the designer and shipped it to us all within two weeks -- impressive!

I LOVE Pearl's Place and recommend them to everyone.  Every single time I have called them, whether it be to order, check the price or follow up, the person who answered the phone was extremely helpful, friendly and made me feel like they had all the time in the world to help me.  Each time the price has been at least $50 less than the local bridal shop, in addition, I've always received the dresses in no time!
