We got to bring him home today! We’ve been home about half an hour and so far he’s explored the entire house, played with his catnip mouse, checked out his feather toy, rolled in the bed, had some treats, and watched the cars go by through the living room window. Now he’s alternating between rolling in his catnip and yelling at me!
His foster mom did mention that he prefers to be the only kitty in the house, so I’m glad we decided to hold off on getting a second cat! She also told me his story: Peeta was found outside at night during the first “polar vortex” we had. Here in Michigan, our windchills dropped to nearly 40 below! They didn’t think he was going to make it through his first night.
Now he’s home with us, warm and happy! Here’s some pictures of our beautiful boy!

Aww sweet. Black adult kitties are really hard to get adopted, good for you for giving him a home.

@PatientBee: He’s actually only 10 months old! Already a big boy!
@arathella: He’s soooooo easy going! He knows he’s home for sure!

He’s worn himself out. He’s fast asleep and his little paws are twitching.

@s2bmrscook: Wow! He’s so, so beautiful. With those gorgeous eyes and all that silky, long fur, he looks like a kitty model. I’m so happy for you guys and especially for Peeta, as he went from freezing on the streets to a warm and happy forever home.

Aw! He is so so handsome. Glad you wanted one kitty and he wants to be the single kitty of the house – that’s perfect!

YAY! LOVE black kitties. As a PP said, black cats (and dogs) have a much harder time being adopted, so I am always extra happy when someone adopts one! DH and I have two black kitties (both foster failures). I am trying to convince him we need a third, but he is refusing to be budged. Congrats on your new family member!

Congrats! He looks so snuggly!
We also have a cat who prefers being an only cat. He’s lived in five different places with me since I adopted him and throughout those places he’s lived with 5 or 6 different cats. He never buddied up with them or snuggled with them like I see so many cats doing! He now lives with two dogs and I think they get more headbutts and snuggles than FI or I do.
Oh I also have that cat cardboard scratchy thing and our cat looooves it. We get him new ones for Christmas and his birthday every year.
