Does anyone have a pen pal or E-pal?
I know lots of people had pen pals when they were younger but i am not sure how many still keep in touch or have aquired pen pals later in life.
I have an e-pal who i met online about 10 years ago and we still exchange emails monthly. Its great. He is from the US im in the UK and he was until recently in the US air force. My husband also speaks to him via email. I ancouranged them to talk as i didnt want to lose this friendship through jealously or anything and they seemed to really hit it off (if you really can online) but none of us have ever met in person. We have skyped but never met.
I suppose its a little strange but my husband and i look forward to our monthly catchups.
We have all talked about meeting in the near future but do you think pen pals should remain just that. could meeting potentially ruin our friendship.
Just curious really

@ChocolateLime: I have an e-pal/pen pal! We have known each other since 5th grade, so for about 15 years now, which is strange. We found each other through a Monkees fan page. We both wrote in the guestbook of the same website and contacted each other to share out love of everything 60s (I am a flower child at heart even though I am 25 lol). She is from Tennessee, and I am from North Dakota. We have never met, but we have kept in touch. We no longer communicate by way of e-mail or letter becuase we both have separate lives and can talk through Facebook.
I would love to meet her one day. Maybe one day year and years down the road we will be able to meet up. Maybe on like one of those reunion shows lol.

@ChocolateLime: I met a girl on holiday when I was 11. i’m now 31 and we still write to each other. Proper letters, not mails, though we are both on Facebook. We didn’t see each other for 15 years after the first meeting as we never really had the opportunity and we both both a little afraid it would spoil things. Eventually we got together when she was visiting Paris and we had a great time. We’ve been to each others weddings and I’m going to stay with her in London at the weekend. I love the feeling when you open your mail box and there’s something other than bills, something someone put time and effort in to.

@ChocolateLime: I had/have a pen pal! I met him 10 years ago as well. We actually met in person last year! He met my FI and I for lunch when we took a trip to NYC… and then later that night FI proposed, so it was a very awesome day for me. He’s on Facebook, so we FB message and text and call. 10 years ago though we wrote letters and emailed and we disnt have cell phones, so he called me from pay phones lol. It was so much fun.

@ChocolateLime: I have a friend I met on an online support group for anxiety about 4 years ago. We have exchanged several thousand emails ( I know that because I saved the emails in a folder and there are thousands in there). We send each multi paragraph emails 5 times a week or so, and often every day. We have never spoken on the phone. I actually am afraid that may ruin things lol, although I love talking on tue phone. It is weird though since I consider her one of my best friends and we’ve only ever emailed. We are Facebook friends too.

@itsnottoolate: its funny int it how sometimes its so much easier sharing experiences and issues with someone who you have never met face to face.
I too suffer from anxiety disorders, its horrible and so debilitating.
