Oh good! I... We are so happy pennie is okay! And that the owner owned up to everything!
Glad it's being settled so nicely - I'm wishing Pennie a speedy recovery!
I'm so glad that it is going well and he seems to be accepting responsibility! And that your puppy is doing well!
Wow!!! That is so awesome that he didn't give you any trouble!!! I was so worried that he was going to give you a hard time. Yay!! :)
I hope this will motivate him to contain his dog or get it proper training. I'm glad they didn't put his doggy down.
I'm so happy everything worked out :)
I'm glad he's not being as stubborn as you were afraid he might be. I hope everything continues to improve with your dog and this guy lives up to his word. Will you be near him after the move? Hopefully not!
Pennie's story was so sad :( I am SOOOO glad to hear she is doing better, though!!! GREAT NEWS!
And, that the owner is willing to work with you. That is good he is not being troublesome about it.
I have a pit/lab mix who was severely abused before I got her from a shelter when she was 1.5 yrs. It really scares me sometimes because you never know. But she is a sweet girl with a kind heart and the "animal" love of my live. She just has some very, very weird tendencies (doesn't like people in swings or people in water?) and you cannot play rough with her, etc. I've had her since I was 19.
It is stories like these that make me on edge. I hate hearing them, but it is true, they are more agressive by nature. But then again, I have always heard blame the owner, not the dog. Who knows??
ANYway, sorry for the long story about my doggie :)
Good luck with her recovery, sounds like she will be just fine.
I'm so glad it's going in your favor. If it was my dog that did this I honestly would have put it down, so as to not cause stress in my life or others. Hope Pennie gets better quickly and without complications.
We were shocked to say the least...though he did try and pull a sympathy card.
He's out of a job, on unemployment and food stamps. Has 3 dogs...having trouble paying rent this month. Welcome to the real world. A lot of people are having these problems in this economy.
We just found out we have to pay an extra month of rent in the new place to move in...then we got hit with a $650 vet bill that doesn't mean we want people to feel sorry for us and let us off the hook. Even if he has to do monthly payments, he's going to make it work. He's trying to see if his renter's insurance will cover it.
Yay! I'm glad Pennie is recovering so well :) & that's wonderful that he's accepted responsibility. I really feared for the worst.
@greenleafmountain-no! Thank goodness! We are in Portland and moving to Spokane on the 27th! He lives across the street from D (our friend he owes the money, too) in an apt complex so They know where to find each other. = )
@His Barista We lived in Portland until August of last year, then we moved up here to Coeur d'Alene...how weird! At least you were able to get through to him that it needs taken care of, but I don't think it will be covered. I know when one of our dogs bit my sister's friend that it wasn't covered. (She thought she was protecting us and had been abused most of her life, but we had to put her down anyway)
State FArm does it on a case by case basis. We know if his claim doesn't go through, our agent will file a claim for us and do what he can to have it covered. However, he would then still need to pay us back for compenstating our friend if that happend. He will probably just end up doing monthly payments.
ETA: Her stitches are coming out on the 26th = )
Wow, I want to say that I hope the owners take responsibility and train and work on the dogs behavior. It's so sad, because it's not the breed that attacks, it's the animal... and that dog may very well be put down one day because it wasn't given rules... That's really sad, imho.
I'm so glad though that Pennie is getting better! How are her "spirits?"
@KLP-I know. It makes me sad, too. Since it's on re cord if it happens again, it will be taken away. = ( As for Pennie, she's kinda mad right now. She thinks she's ready to go on walks but the doctor says otherwise. She pouts when we leave since she's in the bathroom all day (easier to clean!). lol. Her behaviour so far has not changed, but I'm really hoping she won't become dog agressive on walks after this!
@HisBarista - I'm so glad to hear she's recovering well and I hope she doesn't have any mental side effects. To help prevent them (especially since any aggression would be fear-based), I would just make sure you (or who ever is walking her) is SUPER confident. If you think you can't walk her without constantly looking over your shoulder or eyeing every dog you meet to judge whether it's going to attack, send her out with someone else until you can control your fears. If you act like you are in charge of the world and nothing will happen without your say-so then she will believe you. And if you're making sure everything is right with the world, well then, she doesn't really need to worry about that dog across the street, does she? Keep us posted and good luck containing her in the meantime!
i'm glad to hear your pup is recovering well and the other dog's owner is owning up to it.
Glad that your baby is doing better and it's great that the owner is cooperating!
Thanks, caitlanc! By the time she is ready to walk we will be in a new city so I have total confidence in us! = )
I am thrilled to read how everything is working out for you two and of course for Pennie - -
@HisBarista - That's perfect! Even when bad things happen at least they sometimes have the decency to have good timing. :-) I just had to put my dog down but fortunately it was right when we moved into our new house so I was able to bury him in our backyard AND I don't have a bunch of memories of him at this house. It makes it much easier. Yay for little Pennie!

Today we took little Pennie to the vet. Her drain tube was taken out, but a couple of stitches were done a little tight. Overall, looking good. Those can come out after the move on the 27th, then she can go for walks. = )
We went over the talk to the apt manager where the pit bull owner lives as well. They had us file a police report so that they could give us his name and address. After that we were able to give animal control more information. If anything like this happens again, they will put the dog down.
After getting the owner's address we brought him the vet bill and pictures of Pennie's injuries. He has agreed to try and settle this out of court and owns up to the fact it is his fault. We have exchanged info, and he's arranging payment options with our friend, D. He knows we will not hesitate to take it to small claims if neccessary.
Thank you all so much for your support the past couple days!
