Stokesay Castle in Reading PA just re-opened. The location is neat, on a mountain overlooking the city lights, and the venue is jsut beautiful. I have family that eats there often and likes the food, though I haven’t been to any events there. But the menus for weddings sound delicious.

I’d stay away from the city. If I remember correctly, sales tax is 8% – as opposed to the regular 6%in the state, tax on the alcohol portion 10%, and the gratutity rate is higher. Good luck!

We are getting married at the Joseph Ambler Inn in North Wales, but the Valley Green Inn in Wissahickon/Fairmount Park and Beat Street Station in Manayunk were front runners for me. Moshulu was my dream spot, but it’s crazy pricey. There are so many amazing places in Philly and the surrounding counties! Party Space was a good help for me to start getting ideas: http://partyspace.com/

I don’t know if Longwood Gardens does weddings for sure or not, but that’s beautiful and not far outside of the city!
