I’m honestly so surprised it happened so soon! I swore PA would be dead last.

Saw this news posted on George Takei’s Facebook page, and especially enjoyed the quote from the judge:

Some of our citizens are made deeply uncomfortable by the notion of same-sex marriage. However, that same-sex marriage causes discomfort in some does not make its prohibition constitutional. Nor can past tradition trump the bedrock constitutional guarantees of due process and equal protection… Were that not so, ours would still be a racially segregated nation according to the now rightfully discarded doctrine of ‘separate but equal’… In future generations the label same-sex marriage will be abandoned, to be replaced simply by marriage.

musician32992: Hide and watch- Oklahoma will be last. We’ll also probably be last to legalize cannabis. Sigh. Get me out of here.

mdcmod:  Well according to my FIL, the government is forcing people to smoke weed and be unproductive members of society…

mdcmod:  I’m marrying into the goddamn GOP. My moderate SO seems like a liberal compared to his dad.

musician32992:  Not that I’m a Democrat (I don’t associate myself with either party, actually), but I’m right in the middle of the GOP. Gross. They’re both gross. But, I’d rather the government force me to smoke it than throw me in jail for it..haha

musician32992:  I had to laugh at your father-in-law’s interpretation of how things are these days. I was unaware that allowing more civil liberties also meant that I get to quit my job and make some pot brownies. Although now that doesn’t sound too terrible!

Katie-Didnt:  I laugh at pretty much everything he says. He’s the type of person that thinks you’re wrong if you’re not white, male, conservative, Republican and living in the suburbs/country. I told my SO that when I get a car I’m slapping a big ol’ Obama sticker on the back.

And many more unacceptable past traditions, like slavery and women having no right to vote. So, so, so true. I love that the attitude towards same-sex marriage is slowly changing towards acceptance!
