Girl, this is the flower I had my little heart set on too, and those buggers are EXPENSIVE. You can technically get them, but they are not cheap. I am going with a great alternative - garden roses. I am getting a blush peony kind. They look incredibly similar, and they are just as romantic.
There was a GREAT article on this from one of the Weddingbee Pros. Here's the link:

This gives you the "real" low-down on peonies.
I stopped into a florist the other day to ask how much they charge for peonies. She told mt they don't have them right now, but when they do have them, they charge $9/ stem! Ouch!
thanks a lot missomally.. ;/ bummer about the peonies. i almost considered moving the whole wedding just so i'd have them, then i realized how crazy that was. lol..
in the end, this is what i decided on..

Those are beautiful! Isn't it crazy what we brides will consider to get what we want?!
I wanted peonies too - but they weren't available. For a big fluffy bouquet, I ended up with garden roses, hydrangea and lisianthus. They were gorgeous!
@ missomally: i know! hehehe.. it really would have been crazy though, besides, i always wanted a fall wedding :D
hmm.. i keep hearing a lot about these garden roses. i'm almost considering asking my florist about them. the bouquet above has spray roses, freesia, and some other type of white rose.. I asked her not to do the cascading ivy, but i'm changing my mind now..

How hard would it be to get them this time of the year. They were my #1 choice, but i was told by numerous florists that they're not available till Spring. I just saw a post and there they were!! Of course, the florists didn't say it'd be impossible to get them this time of the year, but that it would cost A LOT!!! My question is, is anyone using Peonies for a wedding coming up within the next few weeks, should I start my hunt for them once more??
