Seriously! I have pressure from my family to get married and then pressure from others my age about being too young or not being together long enough.
I just want to scream SHUT THE F UP YOU AHOLES! IT'S MY LIFE!!!!

Oh man...I've had several people harp on me about my long engagement...and it's not even that long, only about 18 months! I've taken to telling them (with a bit of attitude) that my parents just paid for my sister's wedding in June of 2010 and they are graciously offering to pay for mine as well. Maybe I'd like to give them a break and a chance to save up a bit of money before mine?
hahah! I have this conversation with my mother weekly. She says I need to have x, y or z and I tell her that I need more money to do that...and if she wants to provide that money then fine!

I have people harping on me for a short engagement, too! We got engaged around Christmas and are getting married this June. I'm a teacher, so my window for opportunity to marry, honeymoon, move in together, and get out thank you cards is very small. I'm not waiting until next summer. Plus, we're paying cash for the wedding. People need to quit it with the judgment!
i have been in a similar situation: why are you getting engaged if you're not getting married for so long?? (it will be a 3-4 year engagement)
