Yes! There’s one that I used to go to when I was a kid and it’s seriously SO sketchy now. I also heard a few years back about mold being found in all the cheese shakers. No thanks.

Nooo….. unless you can count massive amounts of germs and some pretty bad parenting skills skeevy. Ours is pretty normal. No armed guard. Maybe I didn’t pay attention enough when my little sister had a birthday party to go to there… I don’t remember any good vibration covers. That’s a bit too much. The whole place is just too much.

What I find the weirdest is that it sells beer and wine. That’s just not a good combination.

ETA: I just checked their sanitation score, it’s not the best but not the worst… Definitely could be better. Being pregnant, I wouldn’t eat there.

@Sunnyday278:  …the one nearby, is SO OLD…it used to be a Showbiz Pizza….and I think it actually has the same carpet.  That place is a den of loud, noisy, smelly, horrible things, filled with scary people and disinterested employees….I would rather extinguish a cigar with my ass than go in there.

We have a lot of thugs and gang bangers in ours.  We won’t go any more.

The last time I was in a Chuck E. Cheese was when I was a kid myself. I will not step foot in one as an adult. Bless my parents for taking me as a kid. I can no way stomach it as an adult.  The ones around here stopped selling beer and wine… which would have been the ONLY thing that would have gotten me through and out those doors of horror alive.

I haven’t been inside of it, but the closest one is by one of the largest movie theatres in the city and a bunch of big box store.  A pretty family friendly area, I don’t even think there’s a separate liquor store in the area, just the ones that are associated with a grocery store.

@Nona99:  omg ours totally used to be a showbiz too!

i know of two CEC’s…the one near my hometown is SKETCH and in a bad area, lots of crime. the one near where i am now is in a nicer area, not like an amazingly rich area but lower-middle-class and not so crime-ridden.

I worked at the Chuck E. Cheese’s by me when I was like 16.  The parents were all  INSANE, rude, and violent.  We had fights break out a couple of times.  I had a lady scream at me because we didn’t have the tee shirt her kid wanted in the right size.  She wanted to call corporate and get me fired (?).

Mind you, I live in a pretty great area of town.  It’s in a very nice, suburban area of Columbus, Ohio.  For some reason Chuck E. Cheese’s brings out the weirdos.  I have been invited to a couple of birthday parties for my friend’s kids and had to decline.  You couldn’t pay me to go back to that place.

I’ve seen two near me-They were both pretty nice!

And in Vermont, we had something like a Chuck E Cheese, but it was locally owned/operated. That is SO clean and their food is pretty good!

The last time I was at a Chuck E. Cheese was when my younger sister insisted on having her birthday party there (probably ten years ago). It was gross back then. I was probably ten, and I didn’t want to touch anything myself. I’ve always had a thing about hating ball pits and other play areas due to the germs. I think the major problem is that there is no age limit. I think if you’re over a certain age you should be there with a birthday party or have to bring a little kid with you. I know a lot of people were going there for some…ironic fun? when we were seniors in high school. I can imagine that’s where some of the problems stem since they would probably pick on little ones.

Ours is not in the best part of our city, and when I was 17 the guy in the Chuck-E costume groped my butt at my nephew’s birthday party.
