So…I have been a longtime lurker, but have only posted once. I frequented the Waiting boards a couple times a week. I never posted because I felt like it would have made my waiting worse!
To give a little back story, I met my now Fiance 3 years and 3 months ago when I was still in college. We were both living in northern VT at the time. We hit it off right away, we never fought and had soo many things in common. We moved in together rather quickly, 2 months into our realationship. We talked about marriage very early on in our relationship, we knew it was something we both wanted. If you asked me when we first started dating when we would be engaged by, i would have said within the first year of dating! Boy, was I wrong!
We got really serious, we bought a house together and shared bank accounts. The usual. Then our whole life got turned upside down! I was a recent graduate from college and was working in a dead end job applying for positions in my field. First off, the field i have my degree in is very limited as far as jobs go. ( I have a B.S. in Computer & Digital Forensics). One day I got a call from the biggest retailer in the world :cough: :cough: walmart :cough: Asking me to fly down to Arkansas in for an interview! I went just to see what would happen, and I got the job!! I had the conversation with my then BF, and asked him if he would uproot his whole life and move to Arkansas with me. We have been together for 2 years at this point. And he said yes. Within 2 WEEKS! We put our house on the market and moved 1500 miles from Vermont to Arkansas! Woah.
We had some asstance from my job helping us out with rent while our Vermont house was on the market. Well that assistance stopped and we were stuck paying a mortgage and rent, and bills in 2 different states! Our house was on the market for a year and a month! This was the most stressful year of our lives. We were constantly stressed about money and the fact our house wasn’t selling!! Our marriage ideas and hopes were definetly put on the back burner. Well, eventually the house went under contract! we were soo thrilled.
On November 22, 2013 our house closed! We were SOO relieved. No more stress! We went out to dinner and celebrated at a fancy resturant. Two days later on Sunday, 11/24/13. We went on our weekly bike ride. During a break, near beautiful Crystal Bridges Museum, he got down on one knee and proposed!! I was soo shocked. I just stared at him. I didn’t even say yes until 5 minutes after! I kept asking him if it was a joke or if i was deaming. OMG it wasn’t a dream. It was real! And i got the most perfect ring ever! A Martin Flyer Halo on a size 9 finger.
