I think that would be amazing!! But I'm assuming you would change out of your gown for the dance.
Unique and romantic - that sounds beautiful! I have a friend of a friend who performed a ballet dance at her wedding and apparently it was lovely and people cried. She was not a dancer, but had been taking lessons.
Ps - as someone who LOVES BALLET and danced for about 20 years, I would LOVE to watch something like that!
@adnama: Thank you for commenting!! Yes, I would need to change out of my dress. But I am looking and hoping for places with bridal suites in the first place. So i was thinking if I found a cute white dress i could dance in, I could change in the bridal suite and then change back into the gown after. Do you think it would be better by myself or with the girls?
@Juliepants: Thank you for your comment as well! It's nice to hear from a fellow dancer and from someone who has heard of this before. Do you think it would be better as a solo or with bridesmaids?
I think that would be amazingly romantic, especially if you choreograph the piece yourself! You can convey so much emotion with dance, I think it would be really beautiful. I would love it if I went to a wedding and someone did that.
I've watched a lot of those bridal party cutesy dances on Youtube. Some are good, some are bad.
But BALLET..Well, that's a different story.
It's clearly a part of your lives and I think it would be touching! I really enjoy watching people dance. Just keep it short ;)
@itshouldsnow: thank you for your opinion! i'm so glad everyone is so on board with this!
@cylon: thank you for commenting!! I would definitely choreograph the dance myself since I have taken several choreography classes and it would make it so much more personal. I appreciate you giving me your opinion. I'm getting very excited for this now!
@littlelucygoose: thanks for your comment! Most of the people who will be at my wedding are dancers/ or have watched me dance throughout my life except for some of my FI-to-be's family, but I definitely think I would like to keep it around 2 mins or a little less because I know dance isn't for everyone.

Let me start by saying that I am a classically trained ballet and modern dancer and have been dancing since I was 5/6 ish. My soon-to-be-fiancé and I have taken ballroom lessons before and are excited to have a beautiful first dance, but just had the idea today that maybe I could choreograph a romantic solo (or even group dance with my bridesmaias since all of my friends are dancers) to surprise him with at the reception. My question is though, do you think it would be weird or awkward? I mean people sing or play a song for their new spouse but I know some people may be more uncomfortable with dance. Would you be uncomfortawithout weirded out if you went to a wedding and someone performed. I'm not talking a cheesy cutsy dance that bridal parties sometimes do. I'm talking an actual contemporary ballet piece to romantic music.
What do you think? Unique and romantic, or over the top and awkward?
