    I'll be 43 next year.

    This year I feel as though my body is failing me. Breakthrough bleeding, depression, loss of joy, anger, aches and pains.

    I'm on a mini pill (Micronor) to keep my cycles light (I flood)...but this month I got my period 3 times.

    Has anybody here gone through menopause yet? I'm wondering if I'm starting.

    I'm due for my pap test, but they want me "mid-cycle" and I haven't had a chance yet.

    Advice/ Thoughts?

    @SandyDollHair:

    Hi Smile call your doctor... you may be seeing effects from the mini pill. I had been on Mirena and thought I was doing great, but started having strange symptoms. I was 43 at the time (I'm 46 now). Anyway, she took me off of Mirena and poof! weird symptoms disappeared. Also, thyroid issues can cause depression and other things. Don't guess, let your doctor help you out Smile

    @naptime: Thanks, i also have a mass attached to my thyroid which is benign and the doctors say because my blood tests are normal, it's not affecting anything. They won't pursue it because of the good bloodwork.

    I'm 100 lbs. overweight now and have been on the mini-pill for about a year. I agree it could be one of the issues.

    I feel like I'm losing my mind and all control of myself.

    Thank you...I'll make an appointment. I can't go on like this.

    @SandyDollHair:

    I just ordered something for myself.  I'm not enjoying this time of life either.  Hang in there.

    I don't know which term is correct, perimenopause or menopause, for what stage I'm in, but whichever it is, I've had enough! I am having an endometrial ablation done next week in hopes that it puts an end to my periods. When my almost 26 year old daughter told me that she had this done last year when she had a tubal litigation done I was like, "What? You DON'T GET YOUR PERIOD?!" She was just short of being 25 years old at the time and just like that, no more periods. Lucky girl! I'm so jealous. I am crossing my fingers that I'm just as lucky as she was and that this will be the end of having menses. Good riddance I say!

    By definition  "menopause" means that you have finished having periods- that you have not had a period for 12 months.

    Perimenopause is that period of time leading up to menopause.
