I’m on the pill, so I already looked ahead to September, and any planned vacations this summer, and I’m fine. But if my period were coming wedding week, I’d simply skip my period.

Are you taking BCP? You can easily manipulate your cycle on the pill.

Well, whenever my FH and I have gone on holiday or had weekend trips that were supposed to be special, and my period fell during that time, I would just skip my birth control’s placebo week and go directly into a new pack of pills. Then when that pack comes to an end, I’ll return to taking the pills as normal. A lot of my girlfriends do this over special occassions when periods have been inconvenient. Neither they nor I have experienced any issues with this.

@MissJuicy:

I have told all the girls I know this tip:drink 2 cups of spearmint tea per day during the week leading up to when you should ovulate. It throws your ovulation off. Your period occurs 2 weeks after ovulation (it’s too late to try to alter it if you have already oveulated). The tea delays ovulation, thus delaying your period. Try it out in the next couple cycles. Btw, I learned about this bc a lot of women use spearmint tea to fix hormonal acne. Then they freak out bc their periods are late or even skipped. I accidentally skipped two of mine before finally finding out what caused it.

@LostInWonderland:  Yep, do this, OP. If you’re not on birth control, I highly recommend it unless you’re looking to have a baby soon or have experienced some kind of side effects in the past. Much more reliable and fool-proof than trying to drink things or do certain things to change when your period happens.

@bunnyharriet:  That is so interesting! I’ve done a lot of investigating herbal medicine for women’s health, and I’ve never heard of that one before. Fascinating in the extreme! I might just have to try it if my period is ever threatening to ruin a vacation or something. I REALLY like the idea of its helping hormonal acne, as I have problems with that.

Do you know if it has other hormonal effects too– does it influence PMS?

@MissJuicy:  Another way to manipulate the timing of your period is to drink lots of parsley tea– like 3 cups of it a day– to induce your period early. Taking Chinese angelica (dong quai, a common women’s herbal supplement) will help that along as well. If I were you, though, and you are not on birth control pills, I would try the spearmint thing. Just don’t continue drinking parsley tea and/or taking dong quai after your period comes, or it will be quite heavy.

@newname_99:  Can you try ordering the Instead cups online in advance of your wedding?

Worst case scenario, get it on in the shower! 😀 That’s my usual solution.
