I recently was out of town, visiting my former city, and I decided to have my rings independently appraised while I was there, since it’s been five years since my DH purchased them.
I’ve been wearing my e-ring for five years and my wedding band for four, and, until this visit to a jeweler, I’ve never been told that I had any loose stones in my rings. I was stunned and concerned to learn that I had THREE loose stones in my wedding band, and a loose baguette in my e-ring! I didn’t really want to keep wearing them under these conditions, but, because I was out of town, I also didn’t feel comfortable not wearing them, so, until I could get an appointment with another jeweler who could fix my rings the same day (I had to return home within two days of discovering this situation, and the jeweler where I had my rings appraised was on vacation for a week), I just kept looking at them everywhere I went to ensure that I didn’t lose a stone. I am very thankful to God that I did not.
I suspect that the culprit for knocking my stones loose may be the thin, anniverary band I added to my ring stack about a year and a half ago. I am now hesitant to wear it with my wedding set, so, at least for now, I’ve stopped wearing the anniversary band.
Especially if you’ve had your rings for awhile and tend to wear them a lot, you may want to have your stones checked to ensure that you do not have any loose ones!
Finally, since this is the ring board, and everyone loves ring pics, here is a pic of my rings, all fixed, deep cleaned, and polished. I cannot believe how amazingly bright, clear, and incredibly sparkly my rings are!! I obviously have had them cleaned many times over the years, but this time, they look as if they have both just been purchased!
