What a brilliant thread idea! I'll have to dig up photos so I can post also, but I have to say, I think the dresses always look better on "real" people with "real" bodies!
1st is me ....2nd is the model.
I didn't see a pic of this dress on a model until after I bought it. I think my curves make it look better ;)
WOW!!! This is the best post ever. @melodicsi<span style="font-family: tahoma, verdana;">ghs1 I can't explain why but your dress is like, 12473% better. She looks so... fake... and you have the perfect amount of curves to accent that gorgeous dress. I LOVE IT!
<span style="font-family: tahoma, verdana;">PS guys SO MANY OF YOU have real boobs (YAY DD's!) and they make the dresses look so much better!!! LOL'd at Gloss's comment. I just am so glad to see real bodies making dresses ROCK as opposed to those silly anorexic models!
wellykiwi, I edited your post to pull out the code.
That happens when something is copied from MS Word or another website and pasted into our site. To prevent it, try pasting into Notepad first, then copying/pasting into our site....Notepad strips out the formatting.
HTH! And great thread, everyone - the dresses look WAY better on real, beautiful brides!!!
@kjpugs: haha thanks! Yeah, I hate that model picture, she definitely looks fake. My curviness is FI's favorite part about me, so that dress won the contest in accentuating/showing them off. :)
WOWZA, those dresses do look so much better on real people. I don't want to spoil the gorgeous full-length shots of my dress from our wedding day until I start recaps, but this thread is so much fun!
agreed! We have some good looking hive members! Love looking at the comparisons.
I wish I could post mine, but I had my dress custom made, so there is nothing to compare it with!
You know what's kinda funny. Some of these posts the people haven't had their wedding yet so it's trying on a sample that isn't perfectly tailored to them yet, but still there's just something that makes the dresses look so much better on real people then the model making a sour face (who thought up the idea for models to look pissed in a wedding dress may not be the best market stratagist).
Super fun thread! I was even telling my husband about it.
Hungry model vs. Happy me :)))

Note: I could not find the exact model of my dress but it's pretty close. I think my dress is from Collection 2000 b.c. because there are no photos of it anywhere. Actually if any one of you can tell me what model or year my dress is, it would be really great. It was baught used, from a sample sale. It has Paloma Blanca tag, but no style # or year.
I agree, everyone looks better than the models. Yay for feeling good about ourselves - hehe! Here's mine:

You just have to ignore the fact that you can see my bra a bit and the thing the dress gets hung up with.
This is great!!!
RedeemedRebekah I LOVE your dress! Who's the designer/name?
Soon I shall have my own dress pics to share....
So I love this board, it's so refreshing to see all of you in the gown vs/ the Model. You all look so beautiful...so heres mine! The first is the pic of the model and the second is the pic of Me in the dress the first time i tried it on. I am in Love..but i'm on a weight loss kick hopefully i can look more like the model by next summer!
ME : )
This thread is a best "real beauty" campaign I've ever seen. You real girls are objectively better looking in the dresses than the models, it's not even close.
I love this thread - everyone looks so much better than the models!
@lilmispris - I LOVE your dress
This is the model
And This is ME! I only wish that we fixed the skirt when I turned to get this picture it kinda screwed up the bottom and it doesn't look so full - I think I am going to go with crinoline to fill out the skirt!

@Future mrs martin: wow! The back of your dress is lovely. :) I'm not normally one for poufy dresses, but I definitely think you should go for the crinoline.
Dresses always look better on real brides! It's like wedding love magic.
Mine is tricky because the model photo obviously doesn't include the alterations we requested to make the top into a sweetheart. And the only pics I have are the ones pre-alteration since we're still waiting for it to come in.
What a great thread! I've always loved dresses on real brides as opposed to models. The models just don't have that bridal glow and they are too skinny most of the time.
I love this thread. My dress was from a private collection and I actually never found any pics online. So here is a pic of me in it :-)
Bad quality pic, but you get the idea :)
PS Great post!
All you bees look WONDERFUL!! I'm hoping to add to these thread in a week! My dress just came in and I'm going in to try it on and unfortunately pay in full! I can't wait!
Here are mine :) There is a bit of tightness in my boobal area, but that's cuz the sample size was 1 too small. On the model it looks like her boobs might fall out or something, but trust me that's not how it fits.
Wow, everyone looks so great in their dresses! I don't really have a picture that shows the detail on mine very well. Here is me vs the model! I don't think the model for my dress looks too bad, I thought she looked nice actually ^__^
I def. think all of you look better than the models. I also think it's because it's the dress! It makes you happy, and smile and glow. The model puts on thousands of dresses, it's not special to her, so...they look sad, haha. I also think some of them look sickly thin.
OOOO I LOVE THE IDEA OF THIS PAGE!!! Seriously it is so much nicer to be able to see the gown on someone else! The models NEVER do any justice for the gowns!!! Here is ONE of my gowns I am deciding on! I have gotten mixed votes on it from friends and family....it is still in the maybe pile! :) My mom doesn`t like it :(
Renella de Fina ERIN dress:
i couldn't find a dress i like online and i searched forever. i just sucked it up and went wedding dress shopping with no real idea of what i wanted. i fell in LOVE with my dress, got it that day, and went online to find it. it's sophia tolli "abigail". i saw it and on the model it looks like it would NEVER work on me - but it did! i love it... i must've totally clicked passed it online. go fig.
We definitely have some gorgeous bees! and real life is way better than staged up photos and lighting.
We may not have somebody airbrushing us, but I think the bees here look absolutely amazing!
I can't wait until a few more months pass and I can add to this thread!
You are all so pretty!
Bought mine for 470$... it's a Mori Lee. This is the biggest savings since my venue and catering fees are through the roof! I love it. And I only tried on 5 dresses. I like mine better than the model ... it's hard to say though b/c I like the pictures of the model too:) we shall see on january 16th what the final verdict is!
I honestly have to say that I think the dresses look better on the models, because they show the detail and are just photographed better. In person they never seem as beautiful as in the perfectly lighted and touched up photos. Heres mine!
Yay! Everyone looks awesome in their dresses! Here's my dress ad/real person comparison. Please keep in mind my dress is unaltered and unpressed.
What a fantastic thread! The difference between the actual dress on a "real" person and the model is striking. What I love most is how thrilled most of the brides look- you can tell it's "the" dress.
My dress (Melissa Sweet Reverie Eze) has two pics on the website, one from the runway show, and one from the ad campaign. I didn't really like the dress from the pics and overlooked it while I was searching for dresses online. Once I tried it on, however, I knew that I had found the perfect dress for me!

I was just telling FI yesterday that I wish they had these pictures in magazines. I think it would save a ton of time if they did.
Mine!
@futuremrsmartin: i heart your dress big time!! it looks so fun and girlie!!
