I should have shopped around (I bought it before I found WB and didn't know any better!) because I paid too much. $3500 + tax and $380 in alterations (although they were very minor aside from the bustle) for my Marisa 815. Another $350 for my Vera Wang veil and another $350 for my Monique Lhuillier sash that I ended up forgetting to put on for the reception.
Mom paid $899 for the dress alone, another $200 for hollow to hem measurement, with tax and all it was around $1,200.
My shoes were $115, marked down from $255.
Mine was 700 with tax. And the bridal shop threw in a fingertip length veil for free! Yay, score. Alterations will probably be around 150-200!
I went to my shop in search of a Maggie Sottero (Haley, I think it was!), and once I told the sales person what I was looking for, she directed me to Enzoani...long story short, I ended up purchasing the Enzoani, which I love (again...I went through that period where I had second thoughts and fell out of love with it), and now I can't imagine wearing anything else when we get married next month :-)
The style is Denise, I paid $1800.00 for the gown, but the total, including alterations and veil came to $2,178.00. Can't wait to wear it!!
$545 for the dress, $350 for alterations. Obvs I needed a lot of alterations, and it's a tricky fabric (silk satin bias-cut)
Total for dress, alterations, tax= about $3100. The second largest line item on the budget after food. Oops.
I bought my dress for $254. I went to Running of the Brides and found it! I found a seamstress to do the alterations for $10, I got the bra for $20, my shoes for $30, and my veil was $80. Love it!
My dress was about $1100 before the alterations. My dress isn't in yet, so no idea how much that is going to run! My veil was about $100 if memory serves me correctly.
$168 plus tax. No alterations needed but I did have it pressed for another $20.

Mine was originally $350 but it was on sale for $300 and for attending a bridal show they gave me a $50 gift cert towards the dress so before alterations, it was $250. The alterations were $75 for hem only.
I paid $1150 for my dress (no alterations done yet) and $400 for my veil (WAY TOO MUCH! mom insisted...)
The dress was much less than I thought it would be when I saw it. Bonus though - my crazy mother had budgeted $2500 for my dress, so we got a steal from that perspective.
I bought 2 dresses because I wanted to wear a short one for the reception with cowboy boots, but I still wanted my fiance to see me walk down the aisle in a long gown - I got both dresses for $600 (which I consider a steal!), but alterations will be about $400 for both dresses, so $1000 altogether.
Typically, you want to plan 10% of your wedding budget on the dress, and if you get it for less than that, you're doing a great job in my opinion. :)
Mine is a little over $4500 after taxes. It is custom built, though, so alterations and everything but my own underoos are included. It was about 50% more than I planned to spend (eek!), but the original price is $7000, so I feel like I did pretty well. I am a good negotiator.

BTW, mine will not have the little ruffle at the neck line.
@monita - it's gorgeous! Can't wait to see your wedding pictures.
monitajb that is beautiful.
I got mine for about 10% of my budget. I was able to spend a little extra on the dress because it only needs a bustle.
I had budgeted $3,000 but I found a Mori Lee for $499 that fit all of my qualifitcations! It's 4524, pretty popular here on the boards. Sweetheart neckline, aline/ballgown, and pockets!
My Maggie came to $830 with tax and shipping, before alterations. After having my mind warped about prices by Say Yes to the Dress, I was pleasantly surprised and relieved! (I budgeted about $1200.)
My dress was $1400.00 but then we have to add $600 for unlimited alterations? also purchased a $200 rhinestone edged, fingertip length veil. All from Kleinfelds.
I got mine for 375 from a used site! and it was brand new with tags, she never wore it. it was originally 649 from Davids bridal. but honestly i think anything under 1000 is good for what dresses are these days.
I got mine for $215 with tax and about $30 in alterations from a local bridal shop. Did I also mention it was a size 18 that fit off the rack. :-)
Mine was about $1300, which I was pretty happy with considering my budget was $3000. I haven't gotten alterations yet, or my veil, shoes, undies, jewelry...
$1028.00. My dress is a Sottero & Midgley. I am so happy with my dress and I think it was an amazing deal.
Mine was $4900 from Priscilla of Boston, not including the $500 or so they quoted me for basic alternations!
mine was $1400 after tax and alterations. I LOVE IT. although I did spend more on it than I had intended.
Mine was 349.99
But then I add in 180.00 for my bolero
and 10.00 for gloves
and 40.00 for hair fascinator
and 40 for shoes...so total was for the whole outfit ...
620.00
not bad i must say
Wow...I can't believe how much some of you spent on your dresses! Nothing against any of you, I just wouldn't have been able to reason spending that much on something I'm going to wear one day. I got my dress for $200. I was willing to spend up to $500 if I HAD to, but I fell in love with my dress, and was happy with the price tag!
The price tag on my dress was $1399 and it came out to $1627 after taxes and an add-on package from the bridal store (which was $150, and now I can't even remember what it included! Isn't that awful?). It's a Maggie and has the corset back, so I won't need alterations there, and I ordered it in the petite length so no hemming either! The only alteration I'll need is adding a bustle. I was hoping to spend more like $1000 so it was more expensive than I planned on, but I loved it and so did my mom, who bought it. She is a pretty frugal person and she didn't even balk at the price tag, so I didn't think it was too unreasonable.
i spent $99 plus veil and ribbon and broach and alterations and spanx and bridal bra and bolero..all together like $370.
I call that a steal, deal, unreal! :D
Some of you ladies got some real great deals and some splurged...whatever floats your boat :D
I am sure every lady will look absolutely beautiful! congrats ladies
6k, which was way over what I thought we'd spend, but yeah. That's what it is, or was. Now just wait and see how much the charge me for alterations. Loooorrrrdddy scared.
I haven't purchased mine yet. I plan to budget $1500 but that is for the gown, alterations, veil, and shoes. I sure hope I can stay in that budget for all that!
$2800 plus $500 in alterations. Was planning for about $1000, tops--I even went to the sample store... But that's where I found my dress. BUT I think I priced the original around $14,000--so I still got a great deal!
$4,600 for dress, veil and alterations. A lot, yea I admit but I love it so much!!!
The dress I fell in love with was $6k retail, but thankfully I found a sample for $2500!
Mine was 1600.00, but I will need about 200 in alterations and a veil and shoes. Yeah, my budget was 900.00 for everything, but I looooove the dress!
Mine was originally $1,100 and I got it for around $900 because I bought it at a Justin Alexander trunk show.
