Ok… So I am not sure which flower petals to use at the church ceremony. (I can only use silk petals.) My colors are royal blue and silver with yellow butterlies used sparingly. (The butterflies represent my mom passing.) I was thinking to use these colors for my petals down my long walkway at the church but my mother-in-law doesn’t agree. She thinks I should just use only red petals but this doesn’t even go with my colors or decor. A friend suggest to only use white. I even asked the lady that I have been dealing with at the church and she thinks to use blue, white and red. Ahhhh!!!! What do you Bee’s think?
I love some of the flower runner ideas out there! Very nice!!!

Do you have a pic of the inside of the church where you will be using them? It would help to see the church and color of the carpet or the floor!

@chelle1011: I think FMIL is hung up on what used to be done years ago. I would use blue just because it will have more impact in your pics than silver.
Did you know that you can get silk butterfly petals?

@julies1949: Here is inside the church… carpet is blue. Yes, I bought the yellow silk butterflies. I added them on the bridesmaid bags and will be putting some on my centerpieces as well. (trying not to overdo it on the butterflies) I wanted the flower girl to throw down the yellow butterflies but a friend suggested not to do that since we would be stepping on them and they represent my mom. Made sense but I still like the idea…. so I am torn on what to do. Thoughts???

If the carpet is blue, I would use silver petals if you are only using one color.
If you want to use both, you could do something like this:
or just do a single row of each color.
I think I agree that I wouldn’t have the flower girl toss the silk butterflies.
You could place a few butterflies along the aisle or just at the front near where you will be standing.
