They are both beautiful gowns. It's hard to say for sure without seeing them on you. But my hunch says go with the first dress. It is simply stunning.
Glad to see someone like mori lee gowns too. I bought mine in this style: 4202. Since I am petite I didn't want a ball gown since I feel like I will disappear in the huge gown. My body frame is not too far off from you :) I fell in love with the dress the moment I put it on and didn't need to look any further.
im 5'2 120 so not as petite as you but i bought (and will be selling) the mori lee 1612 - i dont have the pictures in my size (only the sample) - and that is way way too long for me so it kind of drowns me out, for the length reason..
I am almost exactly the size you are and I felt ballgowns overwhelmed my frame. They were just too much dress for me. I ended up choosing a drop waisted dress with some fullness on the bottom.
@Bride2BeeVA28: Your gown is lovely! What is the designer and what dress is it? So you think ball gown can overwhelm?
The fullness on the bottom on your dress is nice..I want a dress that is different but with fun fluff on the skirt :) Any ideas?

I'm 5'2, 100 lbs, slender, small-chested.
Tried on a Mori Lee wedding ball gown 1216 that I adored but wanted to see if there are any Asian petite women out there that are also wearing a ball gown. And if you have pictures, please share.

My mom and sisters loved the dress and say it doesn't overwhelm me or eat me up. Please share pictures and if there are any others out there...Saw some pictures of Nicole Richie--she had a ball gown too and it looked great on her.
I also saw a trumpet, fit-to-flare dress I tried. But am torn b/t the two. i'm afraid the trumpet will make me look shorter once they alter the dress...http://www.morilee.com/bridals/blu/4905
