You just described my body type. I'm 4' 10.5" and pear shaped. I went with a mermaid gown as well.
I'd leave that dress alone and not add a belt. We petite girls need all the elongation help we can get, and a belt will visually make a cut.
I'm not big into flowers on gowns, but those actually look really nice with that dress.

I am 4'9" tall and have found that there are many options for ladies my height, especially those with a pear shape. I found that the fit of the Kamilia from Winnie Couture fit me perfectly! Thanks to you ladies posting pictures and comments on the weddingbee board, I finally said YES to the dress :)
I think I will take the flowers off and add a belt, but my torso is so short and I don't want the belt to cut me off and make me look even shorter!
Please help: belt or no belt?
