i'd try it on..go for it! you never know until you try it..!!!
i would totally do it!
(and PLEASE don't say you're chubby!! Haha, I have only got 2 inches on you (5'2") but I have about 40 lbs more! Hahah!!)
Oh my!! I'm 5 feet tall and I flux btwn 115-122 lbs (depending), and I LOVE my body!!! I don't think we're chubby!! Curvy and sexy all in a little pkg!! Anywho, I loved the mermaid and trumpet styles on me. I felt very va va voom!
I'm 5'3" and 110 lbs, and my dress is very similar to that. You can check out my started threads for pics.
You should totally try it on! I'm 5'1" and about 112 and thats the kind of dress I got b/c it flatters and makes me look taller. My advice is to get a dress with a lace up (i dont know if that's the right term) back this way you can tighten it to look however you want. Also wear high heels b/c it lengthens!! Good luck dress hunting!
I think that dress has potential to look great on you! I'm only 5'2" and my dress is also a trumpet/mermaid silhouette.
Thanks everyone! This is why I love the Bee... you're giving me the confidence to own that dress (and any others I try on).
@Krissycake and Miss Starlet - thank you! I think it's something about being so short, that when I put on 5 lbs it feels like SO MUCH, you know? Whereas a taller girl could put on 5 lbs and not notice at all.
@meliss - thanks, I will head over and check it out! I don't think there is a universal "good" silhouette for petite brides, so it's nice to see what worked for others (and what didn't.)
definitely!! my dress is the same silhouette and i'm 5' and 100lbs.
beautiful dress!!
I say go for it! You never know what anything looks like until you try it on! I just went dress shopping with one of my best friends, and she was sure she wanted a certain type of dress, but when she tried it on, it did nothing for her. She went with a completely different style.
Hope you have fun dress shopping!
Lillyfaith, you are NOT chubby! I'm 5'2 and 120-125. I bet you will look amazing in that dress. I think Meliss is also a petite bride and she's wearing a Lazaro gown with the same silhouette.
Please don't say you're chubby at 115. I did the same thing when I was younger and now I know that even at 125 and 5'1" I'm not "chubby". Curvy a bit, but not chubby.
Decide what dress you want after trying them all on. You never know what might look good.
Aw, thanks guys. I am definitely trying on a lot more than just this dress, I just love online dress shopping! I'm also still trying to decide where to go... I'm thinking Macy's and Vera Wang just to see how things fit. I'm hoping then I'll be able to find the perfect dress used on Once Wed or something.
Yes - that looks exactly like the dress I had. I'm 5'4'' and I rocked Maggie Sottero's Phillipa.
Just FYI - based on body mass index calculations, you are right smack in the middle of the normal range. You aren't chubby.
You won't know anything until you actually go try on that style. No two people are built alike and it's difficult to say from just looking at a picture of an airbrushed model whether something will fit or be flattering. I've read/heard multiple places from "fashion experts" for petite brides to avoid that style like the plague, along with ballgowns, etc, as the flare at the knees supposedly cuts them in half, making them look shorter. While that may be true for some, it may not be for others but you can't follow a blanket statement like that as gospel truth for that very reason.
Btw, 5' and 115lbs is not chubby at all. That's the Hollywood "stickfigure is healthy" mindset at work making normal healthy women (and men) unnecessarily feel like crap because they don't fit a certain image that is not healthy to begin with. Curves are to be embraced and have nothing to do with being "overweight vs underweight".
Mermaid styles are great for us pocket-sized gals!
And you're DEFINITELY not chubby! I'm in the 130s and under 5'0"...that's chubby. My heaviest weight was in the 160s...now THAT was fat...
I say try it on! You seriously wouldn't know what looks good on you until it's on you.
And you are not chubby! :)
That is a lovely dress, and I think you should definately try it. It actually would be better than you think because us petite girls get swallowed up in the ballgowns and full a-lines...
i'm 5'2" and more than 115 and i tried THAT EXACT dress on and it looked GREAT (no ego, that one rocked while lots didn't). i thought it was too springy for my wedding, but it was super flattering. just wear good undergarments!
Beautiful dress - I definitely think you could wear it potentially! But, you never know until you try!!!!
It's beautiful. However I would have to try it on before I could even venture to guess.
I'm 5ft1" and 135lbs, and I WISH I was 115! You are a healthy weight! I'M chubby!

I am absolutely petrified for my first dress try-ons (I'm so waiting for spring, when I feel better about myself, haha!) but I'm looking at different dresses just to see what's out there and to have a feel for what I want to try on.
So I think this dress has the possibility of being The One, but I'm 5' and chubby - er, I have curves! (115 lbs, hoping to get to 100 by next year). What do you think? Would you try it on?
