I'm 5'4" and bought the dress in the standard length. With 4" heels, the length was perfect for me. Make sure to consider in the height of your shoes. At 5'4" with the petite (3" shorter), I would have only been able to wear 1" heels and I prefer some height. I've never heard about the 5" shorter option...I would be a bit wary about getting it that short, because you can always have the dress hemmed to fit you perfectly but adding length is a different story.
Thanks for the suggestion. Being that i'm barely 5'1", I'll still need the 3" shorter option, as I'm not comfortable in anything taller than a 3 inch heel, and the regular length is meant for someone who is 5'7" (even with 3 inch heels, that only makes me almost 5'4"!)
I am also 5"1 and I will be wearing 4" heels with my dress! I would not recommend buying the dress so short.
Hello, I'm 5'1 and I recently purchased a Maggie Sottero Fiorella in petite. I tried on the regular and it was way to long for me. My dress doesn't come in till November so I don't have a pic of me in the petite size. As Sapphirebride said, make sure to not order too short because you'll probably be wearing heals. It is always easier to take off length than to add. My bridal salon said that the petite comes 3 inches shorter but everything else is proportion the same as the regular size. I think with the petite size, I can still wear 2 to 3 inch heels.
I'm just below 5'5 and I ordered the Summer 3 inches shorter and when it came in and I tried it on with my four and a half inch heels it was the perfect length
I am just 5' and I got the petite maggie length on my monroe and will be wearing a 1"heels with it. I still need to have it shortened by 2-3 inches. I have never heard of the 5" shorter option. I have in inexpensive seamstress, but I would ask around and see what it cost for a hem and see if that is cheaper than $100. I am not sure how much you can tell from the picture, but this is petite and I am wearing a 1" heel.
Hi, I ordered Victoriana in the petite length. I am 5'5" and it's a bit too long with 2.5 inch heels, so i am having it altered. I think getting the petite length would be great, and you can always have it hemmed more like others have said, but you can't make it longer unless you added fabric which would look funny.
I don't think I would go the five inches shorter. I am always a little skeptical of buying a dress off the internet, especially when they offer options not available in the store. Being only 5 foot tall myself (5 3 with heels), I got my Maggie Dress in the 3 inches shorter petite size. Are you planning on having alterations done to the dress? If so, I looked up your dress online and it doesn't appear to have any details at the bottom that would alter the look of the dress if you cut them off. I am going the safe route and getting it a little longer.
I ordered Maggie's Jenna in a petite length (3" shorter) and I am 5'4". I don't really want to wear a high heel (hoping for a 2" or less heel), so I am hoping that the petite length is good and I will not have to hem it! We shall see though...I won't know til probably December.
The salon I ordered from could have ordered the 5" shorter for an extra cost (for about $150 I think), so that is not a sketchy deal that the website you saw is making up or anything. We didn't want to risk it being too short for me, which is why I stuck with the 3" shorter option.
I ordered my Karena Royale in the petite length; but I'm 4'9" and not wearing heels (beach wedding) and my seamstress will still have to cut probably at least 1.5 ft of it. The cost for her just to hem mine was $150. Glad you stuck with the 3" option :)
Hi, I'm a Maggie Bride and I am 5'0...I ordered petite and for purposes of this picture I wore 5 inch heels... So at 5'5 w/ heels and with this type of dress (the crinoline pushes the dress out more) I will not need alterations that much. So it depends on your dress and how high your shoes will be....
I almost did what you did but decided against it. I would have to wear up to 3 inch heels. The reason why I decided against it is because my seamstress will NOT be cutting my dress to fit my length but will pull and sew the first layer (at the bottom) up to shorten which the other layers of ruffles will hide...and when done I will just have the threads pulled out to return it back to normal...JUST in case I later decide to sell my dress....
I wore "Reema" and I ordered it in the petite length and still had to have the hem shortened about an inch. I'm 5'2 and I wore 4 inch heels.
Im 5'3 and the store where I bought my dress said, to go with the 3". I hope I can still pull off some 4-5 " heels.. maybe it will still be too long.. They also did tell me that the dress can be 5" shorter for $200

I am looking at purchasing a Maggie Gown (most likely Rhianna Royale, but I need to try it on again first... they sold the sample at my local salon so I haven't had a chance to give it a second go yet)
When I was in the salon they told me that petite sizing was 3" shorter than the regular gown, but not proportioned differently at all. This would still be a bit too long for me.
I saw today on Jaysbridal.net (which is paired with a salon in FL) that you can order the dress 5" shorter as well (I'm barely 5'1", so this is tempting, even at $100 more).
I just wondered if there were any petite Maggie Brides out there, what your experience was with your dress vs. the sample, and if anybody else had seen the 5" petite option or ordered their dress this way.
Thanks in advance for your experience/advice!
