Recently I went to the fish store because I wanted to find a tankmate for my betta. I’d looked up good betta tankmates before hand, and African dwarf frogs or freshwater shrimp are recommended. The frogs were cute and seemed like they’d be fun and more interesting. Then, watching them, I realized I could never own one…because the thought of fishing a dead frog out of a tank creeps me out too much. The thought of dead amphibians in general really creeps me out.
So I’m curious, is there a type of pet you’d never own for some random, silly reason?

I’d never have a spider. They creep me out!

Awww I would have a capybara. They’re big guinea pigs! I already have four guinea pigs lol.
No snakes or spiders though… they scare me.

I want a bird but you can’t cook with non-stick pans if you have one in the house! And I’m not getting all new pans.

I worked at a pet store when I was younger and everyone knew that I would NOT feed the tarantula. Even if it was my turn. I swear that sucker used to stare at me as I walked by.

If I ever brought home any sort of small rodent, then I am sure my dog would find a way to eat it … so I definitely won’t be getting any of those in the near future.
@redheadem: Wow, I didn’t know that. I guess birds are out for me too!

@AlwaysSunny: LOL…Capybaras!!!Yay!! I’m a huge dork….my Darling Husband and I play a game called “Tiny Zoo” on our IPhones, and one of the animals is a capybara. For some reason, I started calling them “Chubby-bear-a’s” a few months ago. He went on a business trip, and while he was away he sent me pictures from a zoo he visited…of a chubby-bear-a. I was so happy!
I could never own a frog either…Darling Husband was fascinated by a stand at the mall that sold little frog aquarium things, and I had shivers at the thought. I don’t think I could do spiders either, or birds. Fish kind of make me a little wigged out too (I had fish in high school, one died so my dad flushed it. It didn’t go down all the way and he didn’t know. I got up to pee in the middle of the night, and opened the toilet to see my dead fish floating there. Screamed. Really. Loud. Blech!!!!)

@mrs_pugetsound: That animal is frightening.

@mrs_pugetsound: I’ve never seen one of those! It looks like a miniature, hairy hippopotamus!
I could never own a bird. When I was little, my parents raised parakeets. My sister tried to shove me into their huge cage/house once… I’ve never liked them since.

@redheadem: You mean you DON’T want a rodent that can grow up to four feet long and weigh as much as 100 lbs? Why ever not?!?! =P j/k…although I do like his little nose & whiskers…

Ferrets. **shudder** I know a lot of people love them but their long, bendy looking torsos really freak me out.

Definitely a spider as I would be constantly plotting ways to kill it. Not a good quality to have in a pet.
