I had a similar issue with my mermaidish dress. I wanted the little fishtail train at the back to flare out, but didnt want a ton of volume in the front, so I bought a standard mermaid crinoline, and took long triangular slices out of the tulle in the front. This reduced the volume in the front, and kept it all in the back. If you're afraid of DIYing it, I'd ask your seamstress to make you a custom slip with more tulle in the back, or sew the tulle right into the dress where you want it.
I wish I had something helpful to say, but I just wanted to tell you how gorgeous your dress is! The lace detail is incredible!
My dress needed a little more poof in the front and not all the way around too. My seamstress just added in more tulle to the front and some things to create structure so my dress wouldn't become concave as I walked, if that makes sense...
I guess I'm going to see what the seamstress can do since I'm not exactly crafty. Either way I think less poof is better right?
Many thanks :) and pengoala that was helpful in a way or another, kinda needed it :)
@Firie: I wonder if I could find something like that, I live in the Middle East and my options seem to be limited. I'll have to either have it made or order it online (or maybe dig a little deeper). I think this is the most suitable shape for the dress though! Thanks!
I was thinking exactly what Firie posted.. And I also wanted to say that your dress is fantastic <3
@IvorySwan: That was an image I pulled off ebay form a place in Hong Kong. There are a few different places on ebay that offer the same sort of shape, most of them seem to come from Asia. I just put Crinoline into ebay and scrolled through the results until I came across the shape I thought most suitable.
I think some sites that brides use to order the china wedding dresses usually offer petticoat/crinoline sections as well. So they could be a good palce to start if you don't want to go through ebay.

Hi ladies,
I've been facing this problem deciding the right shape of petticoat for my dress, as you can see in the picture it has a lace train in addition to the dress train (the dress train on mine is longer than the photo shows). I don't want the front to poof up because the dress is already raised from the floor like the picture and a full petticoat will make it shorter, but I do want the fullness and volume from behind. I also want the pleats on the sides to show. When I went to get it altered the lady at the dress shop had me put on a hoop skirt and it looked awkward because it was so full at the front (plus shorter than it should be). I want it to look exactly like the picture :(
Help? :(
