Has anyone ever thought of using those amazing yummy little desserts they serve in shot glasses at PF Changs in place of cupcakes of a traditional cake?
I think they are just the perfect size, and they cost just as much or less as a slice of wedding cake. But, I don’t even know how one would go about getting them, or if they would be as aesthetically pleasing as cake or cupcakes would be.

I would use multiple tiers to display them. You can do this by using different desert stands, or by placing boxes of varying heights underneath the tablecloth.

Hahahaha, my husband just started working at PF Changs (long story, bad job market), and he thought this idea was funny. I used to work for Chili’s and they had these too, in flavors like key lime pie and red velvet cake.
At restaurants, they get them frozen and premade, but caterers/pastry chefs/bakers should be able to create a layered version and use piping bags to fill plastic or glass shooters. We saw a hotel breakfast buffet that had little shot glass juices stacked on a display like a cupcake tower and they looked really pretty. Maybe you could use mirrors for your trays to make the color of the desserts pop even more.
One thing to remember though, you are going to have to pay for the container in addition to the actual dessert and that might alter your cost comparison.

This is an old post, but I’m using the mini desserts from P.F. Changs at my wedding! They will be in addition to the cake, however. Theyll be brought out later into the night when people want to snack on some sweets. They charge the same price as in the restuarant and just ask for a deposit down on the shotglasses to make sure you return them! Super cheap, adorable. low in cal, and fun! You cant go wrong! 🙂 Just ask the manger when youre there…they said theyve never been asked before I asked.
