I live in Philly, too, and I'm also very nervous. FI and I have been thinking of moving to the suburbs at some point, and I'm afraid that if the Plan C lasts very long, we might do it sooner rather than later. But PA in general is in lousy shape right now...I CANNOT believe that the budget was due July 1 and the legislators still haven't gotten their booties in gear...

This is non-wedding related but I think this is important for Philadelphia/surburbia residents to know about - it impacts our city/suburbs severely...
I've lived in Philadelphia now for 5, going on 6, years to attend college/work; I have really grown to love and appreciate Philadelphia's history and current state of being. But because PA hasn't passed the state budget yet, Philadelphia as a city is now going to suffer as they currently have no or little funding from the state. Our Mayor - Michael Nutter - is starting to implement parts of the dreaded "Plan C" which include everything from eliminating funding for the Philadelphia Art Museum to reducing trash pickup to twice a month to eliminating all after school programs and recreation centers to closing down ALL libraries (over 50 branches). They will also be closing Fire Stations and laying off many firemen, policemen, etc. as well as completing stopping all maintenance for streets and also for our lovely Fairmount Park.
This is a huge crisis and I'm very scared to see what our city will be like in even a year from now. I'm not really into politics but this situation is really awful and I will be writing a letter to PA legislators in Harrisburg. If you are a resident or ex-resident of Philadelphia and really care about what happens to the city, please do the same - there's info on this site http://www.library.phila.gov/about/actionnow.htm about what you can do to help.
Thank you Bees:)
