I'm not in Philly but you can ask one of the Philly bees like Ms. Sloth. Hopefully she ccan help you.
I'm just having a friend DJ for our wedding, but I went to a wedding in August where they used No Macarena and they were pretty good.
Synergetic Sounds is AMAZINGG!! We have been talking with them throughout the planning process and they range in price from $900-$1150. I got to see them in action at a friend's wedding over the summer and they were better than I could have hoped for! The DJ we saw was Matt, I believe.
Feel free to PM me if you have any questions about them.
We used SilverSound DJ's for our wedding. We paid $875. Their DJ's have different price points, depending on experience and the amount of positive feedback they've received. Prior to booking them, I called around and got price quotes from all different companies, some were as high as $2,000. What we paid is considered average. The lowest I was quoted was $700, but the company seemed unreliable and they took a long time to get back to me. As soon as we met with our DJ, we were sold. I highly recommend Silver Sound. If you go on their website, each DJ has pages of references of actual people who have used their services who you can contact. You might want to check them out. Good luck!
Thanks everyone for the responses! Very helpful--I'll look into those. We did talk via email with Kim from No Macerena and she seemed nice and personable. What qualities make a DJ amazing to you? It seems hard for me to really figure out what I should be looking for besides decent music taste!
I paid $650 for a Friday night wedding -- DJ was there from 5:30 to 11:30. We were in South Jersey though -- don't know if that makes a difference.
We're using Silver Sound and are extremely excited. I priced out a ton of companies and read reviews on all of them. Once we met Michael Kane with Silver Sound we knew we had found the right person for us. If you need any info at all please message me - I'm more than happy to help!
@jbaby731- Nice! We just used Michael Kane for our wedding last month! :)
Our DJ's base level was $1,000. That's about what we're paying for a 5 hour reception. (DJ Z)
We met with two different DJs.
Ther first was Frederick Hart. After talking about himself for two hours we asked how much (FI was quoted over the phone at $1295) he then tells us it's $1595 + $150 for Karaoke. Um, no thanks. Don't care how good you are, you upped your price on us!
The second was 3 Way Sound...they came recommended by a friend. We met with Robert for about an hour and were quoted $750 for 4 hours and $850 for 5 hours. Sold!
Has anyone used Scratch Weddings? They look pretty legit and were recommended by my venue.

Hello!
We are planning on using a DJ for our wedding next year and are trying to figure out what great DJs are in the area and how much we should expect to pay. We have contacted a few including Schaffer Sound and No Macarena but really don't know too much so if anyone has experienced either please post! We also have gotten quotes from about 700 to 1000 but aren't sure if anyone has been able to bargain with DJs or if the price is usually pretty set tight.
Any other recs for music are great too--we want fun dancing top 40s plus a mix of oldies classics 90s etc.! *We considered bands too, would LOVE to have one, but couldn't find any under 3500.
THANKS!
