how many guests are you having and what is your budget for the reception (ie what’s your per person target cost)

I’m not sure what kind of a look you’re going for but I looked at the John J. Audubon Center at Mill Grove for my wedding but I ended thinking it’d be a little too cramped (guest count is 150-165).  I absolutely loved it though.  Mainly an outdoors site but there is a beautiful restored barn where you can have the ceremony and/or reception.  Worth looking into in my opinion!  Good luck!

I don’t know much about the mansion at Ridley Park, but I do think that if you are looking at Glen Foerd or something similar along those lines, it will be tough to get something at $100 per person all inclusive.  I understand how the taxes and service charges really add up, but that will be the case with any venue, so make sure you keep that in mind.   Some places will offer reduced prices if you are willing to get married on a Friday or Sunday. 

Here is one place I looked at that may be able to fit in your budget.  They have a newly renovated art gallery room that I thought was gorgeous (the Duke gallery).

Check out World Cafe Live in University City. The last time I spoke with them they had an all-inclusive price of $100 per person. There’s an upstairs (75 guest min) and downstairs part (125 guest min). It’s a great venue, and one of our top choices, but we decided to move our reception to South Jersey: It includes:

Facility Rental Fee
Use of all World Cafe Live owned tables and chairs for the event
Use of World Cafe Live house sound, lighting, and video systems, including all
appropriate production staff to run systems
All wait staff, chef attendants, and bartenders
House white table linens
Votive Candles
Coat Check Staff
Self Parking (additional charge applies for valet parking)
7% Sales Tax, 10% Liquor Tax, and 20% Service Charge

3 passed hors d’ouvres, Dinner Buffet, 5-hour premium open bar

I grew up in Ridley Park, but am not familiar with the Mansion – where is it?

The Drexelbrook might be able to work within your budget. http://www.drexelbrookcatering.com We are paying about $100 per head, and that includes the cocktail hour, reception, cake and open bar.

Here are some suggestions from my search — i hope this helps!

Beat Street Station is an old redone train station in Manayunk.  I started talking to the event planner who seemed flexible with menus. They use infinity catering.(Manayunk)

Prallsville Mill is in Lamberville, NJ & holds 150 indoor.  It’s right on the water.  You may have to rent some stuff so I don’t know how that would add up w/ your budget.  (Lamberville)

I spoke to a super helpful contact at Front & Palmer.  I know that it fits 160, but I am unsure on the cost of renting it.  (Philly) 

Columbia Station in Phoenixville was $103/p all inclusive (alcohol, tax & gratuity).  Their contact seems very attentive. It is another restored train station with two story cielings, gardens & a restored caboose that sounded pretty cool. (Phoenixville)

Northampton Valley Country Club has pretty decent prices for everything it includes.  For approx. $100 (even less) it includes 5 hr. open bar, cockail hour with tons of apps, 3 course dinner, champagne, wedding cake, centerpieces & a signature drink. (Richboro)

I never wound up inquiring fully about this venue — but it does look like a fun place to have a wedding — if you are looking for something more contemporary.  Power Plant. (Philly)

I never wound up finding out the details of The Barn at Birchwood.  They could have 200 guests and their pricing included floral, 5 course buffet or sitdown, coordinator, cake, 4/5 hour open bar, parking attendents & coat check.  I think it was approx. $75 for the winter special just to give you an idea. (Collegeville)

LaMassaria at Bella Vista had packages at $107/pp and included 4 1/2 hr. open bar, stationary & butlered hor ds, 3 course dinner, wine service, cake & centerpieces.

@Monkeygirl:  I think she was referring to the mansion at Ridley Creek State Park. I grew up in Folsom, and as far as I know there isn’t a mansion that does events in Ridley Park.

My second favorite venue was Penn Oaks Golf Club in West Chester, PA.  It was very affordable!  I hope this helps!
