i’m having the hardest time even finding a venue. i don’t want to do ballrooms or anything outside and my guestlist is 175~
my style is like the picture below:
i found a few places like it but it can’t hold 175 ppl and if it can, it has to be crammed or two rooms have to be used and i’m not for that
so far i’ve made appointments to the academy of music and arcadia university. i’ve searched and searched and only found those 2 places.
anywhere else?? my dream venue was the elkins estate but they do not do weddings anymore. seriously at this point i just want to go to the elkins estate and beg 🙁

Have you checked out the Union League? They have some gorgeous, elegant rooms. Or what about the Philadelphia Racquet Club? I don’t know what the capacity is for these places, so I apologize if they can’t accommodate you!

@blushingnude: My cousins had their reception at the Hotel du Pont in Wilmington, DE a few years ago (ceremony was in PA), and it was stunning! Not sure if you’re willing to go out of state but it definitely has a similar vibe to what you’re looking for 🙂

@blushingnude: If you’re interested in taking advantage of Philly’s history, there are several museums that seem to have great spaces available. Google Top 10 Pennsylvania Museums for Weddings — it’s on wedding.theknot.com

OP me and you are in the same boat I have the exact same vision for my wedding as you and Elkins Estate was my dream venue WHOMP WHOMP. My top choice right now is Arcadia but like you said guest would be in two different rooms which i’m not sure I like.
You might have a bigger budget than me ($15,000) but i’m searching and getting quotes i’ll report any info to this thread.
A private room maybe reserved for your wedding ceremony. Rental charges include chair setup and staging for the ceremony. Rental Fees range from $500 to $3,000. Complimentary Rehearsal space may be arranged with your Coordinator
There is a minimum food and beverage charge of $30,000 (inclusive) for all Saturday evening affairs in Lincoln Hall.

Check out Presidential caterers in Norristown … http://www.presidentialctr.com/
I also HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend the Drexelbrook. That is where I went and it was so elegant, so reasonable. Everyone raved about our wedding, how elegent, classy it was. If you want the name of my EC, let me know. He went way over the top and was so hands on it was so, so easy to plan because of him. They handle EVERYTHING !

DH’s coworker had a 300 person wedding at the Franklin Institute. Museum venues are popular here.

@blushingnude No, you do not have to be a member to get married at The Union League. Also check out The Arts Ballroom:
and depending on the time of year, The Waterworks is beautiful too.
I got married at The Franklin Institute, and highly recommend it…let me know if you need any other help and/or recommendations!
