I'm a philly bee but I don't know this place :( Bumping it so you can get some helpful replies!
I just went there on Friday and it was great! I didn't think portions were small. We had a girls night out with three women...we shared a cheese plate, each had an entree, also shared the the beets side dish, and shared one dessert and went home stuffed. It was a little expensive for all that plus drinks (but all prices are online if I recall correctly), about $70 each including tip. We didn't drink a ton either - two of us had one drink each, and one of us had two drinks. We were happy with it and thought it was justified for an occasional splurge. It has a cool and unique ambience as well.
@soyjoy222: Thanks! :)
@philabride2bee: Good to hear! $70 including tip? I had something much worse in my head. :) Glad you had a good time. Maybe we'll have to pop on over.
I was there once. We didn't have a whole meal just drinks and cheese platter and ended up getting a free desert. I thought it was quite overpriced. I was quite dissapointed in the size of the cheese platter. I mean for the price there were only a few miniscule bits of cheese. I don't think I'd be rushing back. The free desert made the price tolerable. Plenty of good food in philly that won't cost you an arm and a leg and leave you hollow.
one of my friends went for NYE and has mentioned several times that i MUST go.
i will tell you my favorite meal in philly (since you asked :)). it's a BYOB with 3 locations- Dmitri's. they have the MOST AMAZING seafood. i'm drooling thinking about it!
@Atalanta: That's too bad. At least you got a free dessert out of it.
@relaxedabout it: Hmm. You just inspired a spin-off. :)
@Atalanta: I can understand being disappointed with the portion size for the cheese. We still loved our cheese plate, but entree portions were much more generous.
@claireos: It definitely could have been much worse, if we drank more or didn't share so much! That's why I explained who went (i.e. not men with huge appetites) and how we ordered. We were all hungry when we arrived though, so it's not like it wasn't a filling meal for us.

We're planning a trip up to Philly soon and were curious about Talula's Garden. We're foodies but aren't so dedicated to flavor that we're willing to go home hungry due to microscopic portions. There have been a few reviews that commented on the small portions but a huge number of reviews that loved it with no mention of small portions. So who knows. I see that it's one of those places that can get pricey quick and was wanting to know how you ladies feel about the place.
Did you love it? Hate it? Left full or wanting more? Cost justify the quality? Or are you just paying for the ambience? Thoughts? :)
