    Hey Ladies

I'm looking for recommendations of photographers.  Any tips?

Me too!  And an affordable one too. or are all photographers $5000+?  Seems like so much, I'd rather spend half that.

Make sure you check out Miss Ladybug's post on photographers. I'm working my way through those websites now - so far I love Punam Bean and Monika Broz - but they are pricey - but such an amazing style.  Seems NYC photographers are close enough to us to use as well.

I met with Sarah Schulte (http://www.sarahschulte.com/ and http://sarahschultephotography.blogspot.com/), she's very sweet, does good work, and is much more affordable than $5K!!  The photographer we ended up going with, Alyssa Maloof (http://www.alyssamaloof.com/ and http://alyssamaloof.blogspot.com/), is also wonderful and her work is a little edgier and artsier, which fit us better.  She's only slightly more expensive than Sarah, and her package prices are posted on her website.  One of my very favorites is Kate Leigh (http://kateleighphotographer.blogspot.com/) but she was way too expensive for us!

We went with Will Michael Photography and loved him!  He is closer to the Poconos, but seems really willing to travel.  Private message me if you would want to ask me questions about him.

We used the Wiebners, and I think their prices have gone up quite a bit since we booked them in February 2007, but their work is amazing: www.thewiebners.com

I also highly recommend Alison Conklin, who shot my mom's wedding last February and our rehearsal dinner this past September (I posted many of her photos on Weddingbee a few weeks ago!).  www.alisonconklin.com

I know that budget is always an issue, but just keep in mind that the photographs are likely one of the only things (if not THE only thing) that you will have to remember your wedding day by in years to come.  I have seen a few friends deal with the disappointment of scrimping too much on their photos and later wishing they had splurged a little more to keep such important memories.  Just keep that in mind!

We had a hard time settling on a photographer and I actually had to switch photogs and loose a deposit. But I am so happy that we did. I originally went the route of trying to find a photographer through TheKnot.com vendor list and the wedding mags and was like you frustrated with the fact that everryone was out of our budget range. So we booked the first person that came within our price, though we were not at all thrilled with their work (it was lukewarm not great and not bad).

[You can read about it in this posting http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/help-should-i-ask-my-photographer]

But Mrs.Cupcake is right it is the only tangible record of your entire day and you should be thrilled with your choice.

That is why when we went shopping the second time I choose to take a more non-tradtional route and search via craigslist. I was amazed at all the great talent out there. (But I had to wade through a lot of postings but it was worth it.) This time we really investigated the photographers and saw a comprehensive look at their portfolio and made sure we gelled with the person.

Two photgraphers really stood out and we winded up booking the later. Onada Photography (http://onadaphotography.net/) and Daily Thousand Words (www.dailythousandwords.info/ ). Both had exceptional pricing and packages included engagement sessions. We met with Edmund and was so impressed with his work. Plus he had an easy going and relaxed manner. I can't wait for my wedding and am now excited about the possibilities of what our wedding photos will look like!

Good luck with your search and it is possible to find someone under $5000. It just requires a little work.

I chose Sarah Miller - we love her personality and her pictures. She has some great packages and she is a little over ~3000 for 8 hour coverage, engagement session, DVD of photos, and album! I'm very excited for her to shoot my wedding. Here is her website- http://www.sarahmillerphotography.com/

And here is her blog http://www.sarahmillerphotography.com/.

She is also located right in Center City. Feel free to email me with any question about her (or just contact her - she is super friendly and will get back to you right away)!

We used Sarah DiCicco (http://www.sarahdicicco.com/) and we couldn't be happier. She's so talented and incredibly sweet and funny as is her husband--they're a real pleasure to have around all day. (This is something else you should think about when you choose a photog b/c they are there from a.m. to p.m.!) She's based in Wayne. We got married in Center City.

My FSIL used Spark Photography and the pictures turned out BEAUTIFULLY! sweet, personal, full of life- everything wedding photos should be and more.  Also, from my limited interactions with them, the husband and wife duo seemed very sweet!  And as another plus, they were almost invisible- in fact, I rarely ever noticed them around...

I'm not sure what her experience working with them was like, but i can say with certainty that the end result was just perfect!

For my wedding I used Jim Harris.  He was honestly amazing.  You can check out his work at www.jimharrisstudios.com

He took amazing photos, came out all the way to New York for our engagement session (which was free! but we covered his transportation and paid for lunch).  The wedding photos we had him for the whole day and we had digital copies of all our pictures within 2 weeks after the wedding.  They were amazing.  I have nothing negative to say about Jim.  He is also quite affordable. Check him out.

We're using Cindy Patrick -- http://cpatrickphoto.com -- and she was very willing to work within our budget (she even found us a VERY affordable second shooter!).

I am so excited to be using Impressions Photography. They are currently Florida-based, but trying to open a second studio in NJ. Look at these photos - http://www.impress-photo.com/ OR http://www.impresswedding.com/ - Phenomenal! I've been chatting with Krista over the past few days via email and she's helpful, friendly and professional. And she'll be in the area this summer, I know that much! Philly Photographer Wanted : wedding philadelphia photographer Icon Biggrin She's doing our "engagement" session the day before the wedding in Center City, how awesome!

I'll attach the packages, starting at $4500, but totally worth every penny. The photographer is the person you need to look at and talk with all day, and the photos are one of the absolute best ways to remember your day!
