In the interest of full disclosure and to help other bee not waste they’re time doing this already stressful period let me run down the pricing for Philmont Country Club which allows outside catering. They’re minimum for a Saturday night is 150 guest so the pricing comes down to about $10,636 which is absolutely CRAZY in my opinion and completely out of my price range. I would still have to get a caterer,decor, officiant so i’m going to pass on them.

That actually isn’t crazy for a country club wedding in a large Eastern US city. Pretty cheap, actually. Our venue was $5000, plus the bar was another $4000 plus another $300 for linens, plus $400 for cake, etc. That was for 69 people.
Have you looked at other places yet? Because it sounds like maybe you’re just having the initial wedding sticker shock that we all have before we realize how much stuff costs, haha.

that’s not too bad, especially in a big city. the first venue i saw in massachusetts had a venue fee of almost $8000. that wasn’t including bar and setup and linens or any kind of fees. that was to have the room.
it’s amazing how much weddings cost.

Open bar, cake, linens and tables for $65/person is a smokin’ hot deal here in the DC Area. Philly’s cheaper than DC, but not by much!

Maybe i’m just extremely frugal but i’m thinking I can hire two bartenders and stock the bar and get a wedding cake and it would not be anywhere close to what they’re charging. Warrington Country Club has an all inclusive delux package including food and alcohol for $69.00 per person that’s more my speed but i’m going to be diligent and make this happen within my budget.

@glamvicious: Right, but you wouldn’t be factoring in profit, or competitive profit for the area. Plus, they have to pay for a liquor license and insurance, etc. The liability of serving alcohol is a big part of why so few places allow you to BYOB (plus the profit of course!)

@glamvicious: You’re right that’s too much!

Philmont is a more elite club for the area. You are definitely paying for the name and the reputation that comes with it. Honestly, Im surprised the cost isnt at least double considering thats what they charge for membership.
