I think what you are looking for is a photo album where you can slide teh photos into the mats, like these.
Remember that the photographer's price for the album includes retouching for all the photos you choose for the album. If you don't have the photographer do the album, you will probably only get retouching on the photos for which you order prints (the cd you get with the however many hundred photos will be unretouched). That is really what you are paying for with the album, IMO. If you and FI and all attendants and family happen to look fabulous without any photo magic help, DIY is a great idea. But you may want to look at the photos before you decide!
Good point Suzanno. Our photograper is strange like that though. He picks 400 pictures and retouches them regardless of whether you get an album or not. AND we will "own" all of the images (so as long as we arent using them for commerical reasons, we can print as many as we like). I think he may just not enjoy doing albums
Wow - that's wonderful! In that case I would totally do your own album. We get all our images on cd, but I'm pretty sure they are not all retouched. Maybe I should double-check.
you can also go the more frugle route with something like www.theweddinglens.com, flickr.com or photobucket.com. If you plan right you can get some petty good shots.
There's some nice leather bound slip-in albums at J Lee.

After seeing the prices on albums my photographer is offering, I think I am going to go the DIY route
Both FI and I like the look of albums that are black archive pages, with a little window cut out for the actual picture... so the picture is actually behind the page. But I cant figure out what this is called or where to find it online - help!!!
