I’m trying to decide whether or not to have a photo booth for our wedding. I am thinking the following for pros and cons:
- pictures of all our guests
- activity for them to enjoy since it’s in the morning and there’s none of the typical dancing and stuff
- only 2 hours worth of time (wedding should be short)
- maybe people won’t use it
So, I am having a breakfast wedding–we are starting at 9 or 9:30am and we plan to do the “shoely-wed game,” first dance, and a “honeymoon dance.” We’ll have appetizers for the guests while we’re taking photos with our photographer.
When would you think is an ideal time to have the photo booth? It will only be 2 hours of total time and I want to optimize it.

Maybe while you’re out taking photos?

Best decision I made. LOVE all those pics. It was a real booth we had for 4 hrs. Some make a makeshift booth. Talk to your photographer.

@lawbride88: We are having a “DIY” photobooth. I own a fairly decent camera, a Canon Rebel EOS. I am paying my cousin (he’s 19) $20 to stand there with a tri-pod to take pictures of guests in front of a backdrop with props for about an hour (during the cocktail reception). We plan on mailing the photos to the guests with the thank you cards.
It’s cost effective and while guests won’t get their photos right away, it’s still the same idea!

We had one. I got it on a Groupon for $300 for 3 hours. It was lots of fun and everyone loved it but I wouldn’t have paid more. I loved it but it was not essential.

@AlwaysSunny: Ours is $450 for 2 hours. 2 copies of all pictures as well.

@bmo88: Good idea. I think we might want to do that. What will your backdrop be? What about “costumes?”

@lawbride88: Haven’t figured out the back drop yet. Maybe just a black sheet (like a typical photobooth look). We are buying costumes/props at the dollar tree and thrift stores.

We aren’t having one. I think it’s kind of cheesy and a waste of money.

Had one. Guests loved it. Our photobook was full and I got a good laugh out of them.
