I am an avid scrapbooker and I thought a picture booth at our reception would be a great way to get some out of the ordinary, non-traditionally posed pictures.  As well as be fun for our guests (my sis-in-law was recently at a wedding that had one and thought it was great).

Has anyone used them or booked them for their wedding?  And can anyone recommend a vendor in the NY/NJ area for me to call?

     Thanks!

I am in California, and I have heard of companies here, but maybe ask your photographer if he/she knows of one or can set one up somehow. Here are some that you could contact, they might know a company near you.

our photographer actually set up a tripod with a digital camera and large flash, so people could take pics of themselves.  it worked great and caught on quickly - plus we got all the digital files so we can use them however we like!  he said he was insured and wasn't worried about breakage or anything - we did have the whole house to ourselves and it sat in a separate room so it was safe.

I want one so bad, the one here is quite expensive but I'm arguing that it's worth it if we skip favors (because this will be one really) they also give us 250 Thank You postcards with our favirte photos of us from the night on it and it's entertainment and everyone loves them......I can't convince FH and yesterday at the wedding Fair we could have gotten a great deal - an extra hour free.....and he woulnd't do it - didn't want to be "roped in"

    Grrrrrr......

Go for it and have fun!!!!

My FI already vetoed this idea (boo FI!), but here is one place that I bookmarked (they say available nationwide).  Good luck and let us know how it turns out!!  http://partybooths.com/index.htm

Thank you all for the info. I contacted a bunch of them and they range in price from $1000 to $2500 depending on which company I use and what style.  The one that I actually like is only around $1200 which isn't terrible but I'll have to use this as the favors instead of the personalized chocolates that I had been planning.  So it will just be a matter of getting the FI to sign off on the expense and see if he'll go for it.  I will keep you posted of my progress.

I am so ecstatic to have a photo booth at my reception! Like you, I liked the company that was on the cheaper (if you wanna call it that)end of the spectrum. I ended up paying 1100 including travel & a disc with all the pictures on it at the end of the night.

I went to a wedding that had one and the picture processing time was about 3 - 5 minutes each. If you are having a big wedding this can take forever! The machine also got stuck at one point. I'd recommend having a back up plan.

My sister had one at her wedding and it was a hit!  I definitely recommend it if its in your budget.  One warning though.  The rental company we used provides a booth attendant, who sets up and breaks down the booth and is there in case there are any problems.  This "photo booth attendant" took advantage of the fact that there was open  bar at the wedding and actually acted like he was an invited guest.  He was hitting on girls at the wedding and dancing. The weddding coordinator caught him and had to stop him.  Please make sure to watch all your vendors so this doesn't happen to you.
