@iheartct: Put it on a table with a sign saying "please sign our guest book" or something like that.
You can also have an usher or wedding coordinator direct people to the book during cocktail hour.
I'm doing the same for our guest book. I'll probably have a little sign telling guests to pick their favorite page in the book and write a message for the new couple. I'll make it sound prettier than that, but I haven't given it any thought yet. :)
We're doing this too. Someone else used, "Please sign our Guestbook, anywhere will do" which I thought was cute.
We also plan to have the guestbook at the rehearsal dinner so the wedding party can go ahead and sign it. Hopefully with having it already started, people will understand what we want them to do.
@TinyTina:Our photographer suggested that we have a framed photo print with text that will stand with the album letting our guests know that it's okay to sign directly in the book (which I think is a great idea) I guess now I am looking for some nice wording suggestions to use.
Thanks!!
It's also great to "stage" a few - i.e. ask a couple of members of the wedding party to sign before the reception, so that other guests will see as they flip through the book that they're free to sign anywhere.
@iheartct: I'll do some brainstorming for you... it's a slow day at work. ;)
@stiletto: That's a really good idea actually.
I did some googling and found these two:
"We hope you will take a moment to inscribe your thoughts freely on these pages, filling the whitespace around the photos.
Please share your memories, leave advice, tell a joke or just sign your name to help us commemorate our wedding."
"Simply pick your favorite page
and please feel free to inscribe away.
Thanks!"
We had a guest book attendant who was there letting people know to sign. We also had some of the bridal party sign first so there were already "examples" on the pages.

I have a coffee table guest book made up of photos with spaces left for signing around the photos. Any ideas on how to let guests know that it's okay to sign directly in the book and to leave a short note or signature? Thanks!!
