@ChampagneBlushWedding:  My FI and I are getting a photobooth through our wedding photographer. She has it as an add-on to her wedding package for an additional $500. It is actually a backdrop that she sets up, she provides the props, and she has an assistant who takes the photos for the photobooth. I am actually a bigger fan of this type of photobooth over the ones that are automated, I tend to think you will get better photos with a professional photographer taking the photos over an automate one. We can’t wait to see the pictures after the wedding when she sets up an online gallery for both us and the guests! 🙂 I think it is totally worth it if you use this type of booth over the automated ones. Cool

We are considering it but our planner said the lines get really long and no one is on the dance floor… So we are unsure :/

@Kafrine:  Hmmm I’ve never seen that. Every wedding I’ve seen with one sets it up right near the dance floor so people dance while waiting, and can still keep an eye on it to see when it’s free. If you have the space to do that I think you’d be totally fine!

We had one. It was a huge hit. They always seem to be a huge hit among our friends though. I have yet to attend a wedding where there wasn’t a constant line for the photobooth.

I had one at my wedding, and I could not believe what a huge hit it was. I was so glad I added on the prop package at the last minute. It was always being used, but I don’t remember there being much of a line since it was within view of the dance floor and the bar.  It was open during the cocktail hour, and I think it helped all the guests to loosen up quickly after the ceremony. We had a few children at our wedding, and it kept them entertained all night (luckily I didn’t have to pay per picture!)  The guy working the photobooth would just politely kick them out whenever anyone else wanted to use it.  I got a DVD of all the images, and they are the best candid shots I have of the night.

We had one too and it was a hit.

1) It is good for getting photos of guests you otherwise wouldn’t have a photo of. It’s not like my photographer went from table to table taking photos of literally every single person, so some photos we have of people are only from the photobooth.

2) It’s fun and more useful than your “normal” favor. It doesn’t get much more personalized than photos of the guests for them to take home. We keep all of our photobooth pictures from other people’s events but we definitely toss or eat the rest of the favors.

3) It seems like it’s really common and everyone has one, but at our wedding, a lot of guests came up to us and said it was really innovative and “cool”. So you still definitely get a wow factor, especially if you have really awesome props or high quality photos.

I’ve seen the ones taken by professinal photographers with a set rather than the automatic machine ones. I think you do get cuter and less “woh, where am I supposed to look???” photos but there’s something nostalgic and endearing at seeing all the crazy, funny ones in the booth because people forget that we get copies of them. I wouldn’t necessarily let loose in front of a human photographer but within the confines of the booth, I would.

We didn’t have any problems with lines except at the beginning. I booked for literally the entire night until people went home and the lines were super long initially because everyone didn’t want to wait. Then as the night wore on, I had to keep reminding people to go in because they started to forget about it. That’s something I would suggest to future couples to keep in mind; book it for the night and make sure your DJ and coordinator let people know that the booth is still open and available. We had an indoor/outdoor venue so the photo booth was not indoor.

The photo booth was on my must-have list for my upcoming wedding. I’m so excited. I think you get lots of fun pictures of your guests… and I bought inexpensive magnetic photo strip frames for the guests to take as favors. It’s win-win!

We had one and it was definitly a HIT!  We lucked out and had 1 of our 2 photographers take the pics for us.  It was uber cheap as it was included in the cost of their day package so all we paid for was the backdrop and props.  We did silly vintage ski inspired props and the more wedding appropriate chalk boards and empty frames.  The pics turned out awesome and people loved getting a professional picture (negatives also included in photographer package).

I think the pics speak for themselves.

I’m getting one!  I have been to several weddings with photobooths and they are a blast!  My sister had one at her wedding and it was SO fun looking over the ‘guest book’ (they supplied one for people to glue their picture strip down and write something) after the wedding!  hilarious really…
