- Wedding: October 2012
This may be just a vent but:
A year ago we got engaged. I contacted my photographer of choice in April and asked if we could meet. I was ready to sign. I was told no, let’s meet when the venue is booked.
My venue doesn’t accept reservations more than a year out, so in October I booked the venue and immediately contacted the photographer. Turns out that in the 6 months that had passed (but really, only two months before our meeting), the photogs had changed their package offerings. They eliminated the single photog option. The next affordable option, with two photogs, was $600 more. They weren’t going to let us pick from the choices they had when I first contacted them, but we sucked it up and signed with them anyway.
It’s been another six months. Today I went to their site for the first time in a while (they’d been doing more Facebook posts than blog work) and they’ve done a redesign. They’ve also added the single photographer option back in, at the price it was when I first contacted them. What the hell? Grrrr.
Our budget isn’t huge and neither is our wedding — we don’t actually need a second photographer and that money could have gone elsewhere. But I reconciled myself to it (after unsuccessfully trying to get an engagement shoot added). Now I’m just bent out of shape because my first pick is back on the menu, but I can’t bear the thought of going back to them for another round of groveling. Plus Fiance would totally tell me to drop it.
