Not to derail your thread but a photographer who is asking you for ideas on what you want shot makes me nervous for you. When I’m consulting with a client ( especially one having such a cool an unique sounding wedding) my brain is brimming over with ideas. Coming up with ideas is your photographers job!:)

here is a checklist someone referred me too- it gives you an idea of what traditional means, given that your wedding sounds different (which is awesome) your photographer in question may want to gauge your expectations by asking- at least mine did- we’re off the wall and didn’t want a lot of traditional, but with a few key ideas thrown out there she knew what we wanted and how to capture some tradition without being portrait centric, which is NOT what i want.

Your photographer may be poorly asking you about your vision of the day in order to understand your expectations.

As an aside, if your photographer needs a shot list like the one linked you ought to run like the wind.
