I'm having the same problem! Expensive dream photographer versus more reasonable newbie. I just posted because I have no idea whom to chose. I'm curious to know what you'll decide!
I think it's important to REALLY like the work of the photographer that you're going to book. Go with the one whose work inspires you the most!
In my opinion it doesn't matter if the photographer shot at your location before. Maybe it's better if he didn't. This way he/she won't have the tendency to repeat something done at a previous wedding.
I would try to find a photographer that you like that's close to your venue. I don't think it's that important to hire someone who is super experienced. If you like the Mallorcan photographer's style, and his price is right, then I think you're looking at a pretty good deal. And personally, I just can't fathom flying in two photographers. That seems like a very unnecessary expense.

you could get the dream photog and see if you could cut out some things in that package so that the cost would be lower. Doesn't hurt to ask. Do you really need all those things he is offering? I guess I would see how much lower the price would be if you got rid of the 2nd photog he is offering and skipped the trash the dress session.
we went with a cheaper upcoming photographer whose work we really liked rather than the completely out-of-budget photographer of our dreams.

My question-how much did you spend on your photography? Should I go for it and get the dream photographer? Neither photographer have shot our location before and the only edge the local photog has is he would know places to go for Trash the Dress. What do you girls think?
